f . I i ' Ev c lX?2iSE',.f THE FUTURE? A natural reaction to a backward glance is an imaginary glimpse into the tuture. As this glimpse usually outlines our hopes tor a better tomorrow because ot advances made, a wise person will keep in mind that however great the progress may be, we shall still be working with the same types ot individuals as we are working with today. Therefore, we must not put our hopes in the change ot the times. We, instead, want to lay the toundation tor turther growth today by being an example ot the ideals we want to project into tomorrow. Woodward has made her educational contribution in the past quarter century. ln this anniversary year, we should plan cur steps tor the coming years in order that we may show tufther progress in all that we may undertake in the years tc come.

YNQ Yi A,smmz,.wtsu-ng.. BACKWARD GLANCE Woodward-this one name symbolizes twenty-five years of service to Toledo in education. Twenty-five years ago people watched its construc- tion and asked themselves, What type of young people will be using this building? What will be their backgrounds and what will be their futures? Will this building, naw only a frame, become a living building which will combine the efforts of teaching with the inspiring of ideals, ambitions, and enthusiasm, the ideal of leading a full and virtuous life, the ambition of preparing students to be able and grateful citizens, and the enthusiasm ta believe and put into action these greater standards of living? This year Woodward is celebrating her Silver Anniversary and is think- ing of her past achievements. She is trying to answer the questions which were asked of her twenty-five years ago. I feel that her answer, if she could speak, would be this: l have tried to place before each student the ideals and ambitions which he should respect, and I have tried to carry out an educational program comparable to the highest standards of education. l feel that in response, Woodward students have gone into the world and made a fine place for themselves and have been a credit to all. l judge them not in accordance to their worldly profit or fame, but according to their worth and service in the eyes of their God, their nation, and their families. l am humbly proud of the Woodward family.

--4 pffif Cdlhe ,--'E' l1eW TWO TEMPLES A Builder builded a temple, He wrought it with grace and skill, Pillars and groins and arches All fashioned to work his will. Men said, as they saw its beauty, lt shall never know decay, Great is thy skill, O Builderl Thy fame shall endure for aye. A Teacher builded a temple With loving and infinite care, Planning each arch with patience, Laying each stone with prayer. None praised her unceasing efforts, None knew of her wondrous plan, For the temple the Teacher builded Was unseen by the eyes of man. Gone is the Builder's temple, Crumpled into the dust, Low lies each stately pillar, Food for consuming rust. But the temple the Teacher builded Will last while the ages roll, For that beautiful unseen temple Was a child's immortal soul. Hattie Vose gov jwenfg- ive ecard 0 Ha WE THIS
