Eleven girls and three boys made up a cast that provided some highly exciting and nervous moments. The play was entitled ---- QQ, fs! 7 i'P':f 'Xxx K 4 I I ' B A C K W 0 0 D S R 0 M E O W I think those on the play cast agree that practices were more easy to enjoy than the actual production of the play, but all in all, we had a new experience that shall not be forgotten S0011 The play takes place in a small sum er resort in upper New York Larry McNe1l lives there with his two sisters Connle and Billie and their maid,LaReina, who is his Spanish flustered, and laugh provoking maid Billie's boyfriend Rex, and Larry took a trip to Canada and discovered an exception ally young hermit living in a one room cab1n This hermit is unusually bright and well educated By some strange coinci dence, his name is Romeo Montague, one of Shakespeare's greatest characters The boys 1DViU8d him down to vislt them at their home The hllarious scene begins when Connie tells him that she and Billie are women, because Romeo, it seems has never seen a woman and th1nks them some k1nd of pet that men have The scene changes and so does Romeo's point of view on women when Connie teaches him the 'art' of kissing!! Along with everything else Rex is 1nvolved in an acci dent with Larry's car, and the orewoman and her four helpers are always intruding demandlng the furnlture or the money which seems to be due on it Intermingled with it all is Rex's contlnuous tr1ps around the davenport trylng to find a place to hide from the lady lnsurance agent who is trying to g1ve him some money to settle the quibble about the wreck Speaking on behalf of the members of the play cast, I want to say that we all really engoyed doing the play very, very, much I'm sure Mrs Pro will never forget the head aches she has had working with us We'l1 never forget the way she helped um e1ther It was loads of fun and filled with many undying memories He s -fa.xvx+2-df lJJYx3 neuvxi Larry McNe1l Rex Simonds Romeo Montague Connie B1ll1e Orpha Flnley Rachel La Reina Sue Forewoman 'PCG-4 'H1ls ll c7'l1c 72 Yt.9'4ms H f ' Da ' YYWDU-Se' 'xx fr-o asm 7? l n 9 r u lun wxembfgj of '45 ou. M On Saturday, October 22, four mixed quartets of Dear 01d Woodward High, traveled to East High School in Des Moines, to try out for All-State Chorus. Those participating were: Janice Sheppard, Dixie Dcty, Chuck Boyles, and Robert Sheppardg Ann Siglin, Janis Jessen, Eddie Walker, and Dean Bice: Doreen Morse, Carolyn Peters, Larry Oviatt, and Marvell Greene, Susanne Bullen, Martha Beck, David Vernon, and Tom Royer. We left the schoolhouse at 8 00 that morning and at 9 40 our first quartet sang After each petr1f1ed quartet had per formed, we began to relax and move about the bullding, just b1d1ng our t1me until the results would be posted It seemed as though that paper would never appear on the board, that the suspense and agony of waiting would never end As the last tense moments drew near, we all became cold and unnerved, not sure whether we could stand to see the finals or not At last, as for the s1xty mlllionth time we drug one tired foot after another toward that fateful spot, shouts began to fill our ears The noise of glee, on the part of one Quartet It was Quartet WAN, they had made itl' We lost our t1red feellng in the anxiety to know if we,too, had made it But, alas, Quartet A was the Knight in Shining Armour The only glOP1uS triumph for Woodward for this year Oh, well, most of us w1ll get to try once more next year And, we are all very proud and happy of Quartet A You see, they sang in the mass Chorus that per formed at KRNT Theatre on November 27 Congratulations, kids!!
