Some may have been boring, some exciting, but whatever they were they will always hgld a very special place in our memories. The first members of the present senior class to peek their angelic little headsinto 'Dear Old Woodward Highn were Dale Battani, Larry Paterson, Russell Boyles and Nadine Pierce. They arrived with banners flying. The only ones to stick it out all through the years were Dale, Larry, and Nadine. In first grade the class started growing with the addition of Jack Weeks, Marie Amis and Grace Anderson. Another member arrived in second grade, Jerry Davisson. In third grade things got too rough for Russell and he decided to pull up stakes and move on. Although we hated to lose Russell, our attentions turned to the entrance of four more members, Beverly Newland, Alyce Thompson, Audrey Grief, and Tom Newell. When school started in fourth grade there were two strange faces in sight, but we soon managed to get acquainted. They were Mary Harker and Sarah Variscos In fifth grade Sarah decided she wanted to try another school, but our class couldn't decrease ln nu ber so Ronald Day and Larry Sayles Jolned our group In Slxth Grade, Sarah decided she wanted to try us aga1n But she soon changed her mind and left us 1D the same year Audrey left us 1n the Seventh Grade and Russell returned to f1n1sh h1s school days In E1ghth Grade, the girls 1n hose and the boys lookmg very uncomfort able in neckties marched solemnly across the stage to rece1ve the1r dlplomas wh1ch D!'0m0tCd them to h1gh school Then came the great oment We were Freshmen! She sent a picture of herself as an old lady and a pathetic history of a deserted wife who struggled to raise her children, Camilla, Cora, Vivian, and Stuart, not to mention Pickney, who died a hero, and whose medals were pawned for bread. Stuart Brand is infatuated with Camilla, and like the other two girls, hails her a master-mind until her nyarnn becomes seriously tangled. Stuart's mother arrives to tell him that she is going to disinherit him. Sadie comes to take her costume just when it is necessary that Camilla wear it to keep up her masquerade as an old ladyg HSpeedn Martin, an attractive you g reporter, turns up to check her stories to the newspapers, for there have been conflict ing angles. njoshua Pagen enters the scene and announces himself as the hus- band who deserted his family years ago, now returning to claim part of that prize money. Although everyone looked half asleep, we managed to get started by 7:15. After a long ride, we arrived at the city of Indianola. Upon arrival the girls decided they wanted to stay and look around. We convinced the bus driver, Mr. Johnson, that he should come back for us and so we started our sight-seeing tour. The boys went on to Lake Acquabi State Park. Around the hour of 10:30, Mr. Johnson came back for us and we joined the boys for a pic- nic. Everyone had plenty to eat, even if we did forget the weiners and had to buy some more. Everything tasted wonderful, especially the cupcakes. That is right isn't it Dale? After our picnic we climbed into the bus and made our way to Des Moines. In Des Moines the first places we visited were the Capitol and the His- torical Building. When everyone had climbed stairs until their legs ached, we left for the Art Center. Our tour through the Art Center ended, and we found we had two hours left before dinner, so some went downtown shopping and others went to the park to play softball. At 5:30 we met at Sammy and Mae's for dinner. Afterward some of us took in the show and others went to the ballgame. At 11:00 a tired, but happy, bunch started for home.
