SENIOR CLASS MEMORIES As we, the members of the Class of 1953, look back through the years to the tlme when we were wearlng knee pants and short sklrts, we f1nd that only one of our members, Dy Ann Carey, was able to stlck lt out at dear old Woodward all through the years. In flrst ,rade, the glggles arrlved w1th janlce Brlstle and Janet bturgeon Of course,Janet left at the end of the year cause every one was afrnld of her flamlng topknot The era of Ugrlplngn came when Kelth Gray flew ln dUT1Hg the thlrd grade Must be the atmosphere because he has been comnla1n1ng ever s1nce In flfth grade, the H0158 really came cause look what the buses brought F1rst there were the NThree Stoogesn De1n Elllott, Rex Daugherty, and Hugh Goff Then Bonnle Noland came along gust for the ar gument Wllbur Strelght saw the sparks fly1ng and came to 1nvest1g1te, john Meler and Jeanne Newland completed our new turnover olxth grade was pretty qu1et, but ln the seventh grade Larry Reed made h1s Presence known janlce Br1stle dec1ded the competltlon was gettlng too stlff so she pulled out for 0gden.In elghth gradqIFred Pentlco Jolned the clan, and our superlor scholars relgned over the entlre JUHIOP H1gh In freshman year, we turned our scured llttle faces toward the Senlor Hlgh study hall We galned qu1te a number of fellow sufferers lncludlng Bob Marlnac, Kermlt Krum , Myra Sparkman, johnnle Snyden and Carroll Roby janet and janlce decided that matters were ent1rely too calm 1h Woodward Hlgh so they stepped 1n agaln and thlngs haven't been the same s1nce Memorles of Freshman year wouldn't be complete wlthout men t1on1ng the awful 1H1tlatlOn the sophomores made us suffer through Remember the coke Larry drank 1D one mlghty gulp9 Durlng sophomore year,Lou1se Cowden Jolned our crowd Our talented entertalners dlsplaved thelr charms at the JUHIOP Senlor Banquet and Prom who could forget the HBallet Boysn, the famous crooners, and then there was our HPony mlndedn dance Wh1Ch has branded us for l1fe It was fum even :fthe saddles d1d glve the atmosphere a Nhorseyn smell junlor year brought lots more arguments, but one thlng we all agreed our class rlngs were tops I'm sure we'll never forget the class play and Janet's famous l1ne, 'I wonder what Frank w1ll say about th1s U The nlght before the Prom found the amb1t1ous JUHIOF boys worklng t1ll the wee hours of the mornlng on decorat1ons but when lt was f1n1shed, the ronantlc Hawa11an atmosphere made lt well worth the effort Then we f1nally made lt!
