BAPD'S BAKEFY PHONE 135 PERFY, IOWA nLoo s Pomecomingn who took the pictureou 1 12 WLooks cozyn Hwould Larry approve?H CLASS HISTORY As we look at the graduating class of 1952, it is hard to realize that they are the same sweet little devils that confronted their kin dergardep teacherin the fall of l 3C let' t ace hack through history and discover what Old Woodward High has tolerated as this class nas gone through its growing pains Only six remain who still remember that first, com licated year They are Joyc Appenzeller, Barbara McMorris, Varjorie Segrave, La vonne Hass, Ellis Flinn, and Shirley Leaming They tried to be good, but then, and now, there was so much to say Maurice Sheppard joined our happy group in first grade and has been with us ever since In second grade we were blessed C91 with another sweet little girl, Joyce Hooker Vou couldn't guess it now, but then she was dis liked because everyone was afraid of her freckles At he end of the year was 1 F316 event the class picnic At this one Lavonne lass was bitten by a snake, an the boy bv-avelv killed the danBeI'011S reptile a garter snake In third grade another culpret joined our dangerous mob Don Weeks moved into town A fev still remember his lack of artistic a bility The first day he cried because the teacher had asked the class to dram a frog and Don d1dn't know how The picnic for this year was a memorable one for Maurice Sheppard Fe stepped on a bee, his foot swelled and e had to go barefoot Shirley Leaming left us in fourth grade She moved to the coun try, Elm Clty was the school low the battle began She and Bill have been at it ever since Vovever, ve considered ourselves uite lucky, we gained four new members They were Lynn Davisson, La rence Bice, up before the class the first day and stated that he countryman from the city Later in the day he wrote all the girls notes that he loved them Wasn't changed a b t either Same old corney jokes and love lines, huh, Denniso Larry York Yay Calonkey Bill Pose lalden Straight, G r Wewell, Kenneth Tingwal and Shirley eaming jo ned the happy group lH sixth grade This was a period of many secret codes and gangs The gang fights and wumerous secret codes continued during the seventh grade Evidently, all of those present were too busy to leave and the secrecy of the groups frightened away HDV new comers because our number remained the same during this grade P1ghth grade We were the upper classmen of Junior High Ve really mounted to something es, a lot of headaches for our faculty, Deloris Sayles and her pigtails joined us that year Freshmen year was a big one The day some of the girls dashed down to Mrs Wa1l's comlc1Ling presence and stated that they wanted to come back She gave us just one week to change our minds, and that's all the time we took We had successfully withstood another major growing pain that we're sure all Freshies feel The class grew con siderably this year James Pentico Larry Nelson, Vivian Lorenzon, Gerald Bice, Benny Caldwell, Bill aton, Mae Lowery, Florence Bice, and Greta Lee Gill became Woodward High School students, also Initiation was weird, but we got over that successfully and with out too many midnight rides This year was marked with striving Fome Ee girls and noisy shop boys WOODWARD MOTOR CO E W DARLING A F KPASCHE GENERAL FEPAIRING PHONE 183 WOODWAPD, IO'A 1 A. 1 f rv, fp J, S lr . ,.. . lv A u ' , - P . 2 0 .. . ,. - - I I .
