FINAL STEPPING STONE Our senior year is the final stepping stone in the long road to graduation. Some of us are college bound while others will join the working world immediately upon graduation. Most of us were fearful of having “the dreaded Walcher” for English. She has bitten a few, k but overall, her bark is worse than her bite. Of A Kind Unique Individuals Although we enjoyed the feeling of belonging that we derived from the different groups, we were never willing to sacrifice our own individuality, but of course, we were ordinary teenagers. We validated our sense of worth by being accepted by others. No matter how much we “melted” with the group we were always aware that we were and always will be “unique individuals.” When I have ceased to break my wings, Against the faultless of things. And learned that compromises wait, Behind each hardly opened gate, When I can look life in the eyes, Grown calm and very coldly wise, Life will have given me the truth, And taken in exchange — my youth.
