The Paramedical Club of W.H.S. was organized in 1959 to inform students about the different fields in the Medical profession and to give service to the community. The club attended the Future Nurses' Day in Oklahoma City last year, which it intends to do again this year. They each made a blue sheath dress with a black lace over-skirt. After singing for a County Teachers Meeting, the girls settled down to working on the Christmas Concert where they combined with the Mixed Chorus to stage the Night Before Christmas. After this they began work on the Pop Concert in which they acted several of their numbers. Numbers for contest will be on the agenda then and preparation for a spring concert. The Mixed Chorus began meeting the second week of school at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. It has a membership of 65. The first engagement for the mixed chorus was at Stillwater for the Thanksgiving Choral Festival. A concert was presented consisting of approximately 4000 voices. The concert closed with Handel's Halleluja Chorus The next engagement was the Christmas Concert when the mixed chorus staged the Night Before Christmas with the Girls’ Chorus. The Pop Concert, scheduled for February 6 and 7, is next on agenda. A District contest and a spring concert will close out the year. The mixed chorus will also sing for Commencement. The band promoted school spirit with its performances at football games and the pep band was a great help during the basketball season. To spread the name of our school, the band participated ip many contests in and out of state—for instance, the Shattuck Music Festival and the Blossom Festival in Canon City, Colorado. Its highlight for the year will be the annual spring concert. The Wind Symphonette is a select group of fourth year instrumentalists. They have performed at the Annual Thanksgiving Union Service, the Christmas Concert, and the Christmas Parade. The Symphonette will end a successful year by performing in the Junior High Band Spring Concert and will compete in the Junior High District Music Contest at Weatherford. Gary Newcomb running fourth man on the Boomer 880 yard relay finishes far ahead of the second place winner in the Regional Track meet. Ron Derrick hands Terrel Myers the baton on the third leg of the 880 yard relay at Weatherford where the Boomers won the event. Ron Derrick, gold medal winner in the high and low hurdles at the State Track Meet, stretches to beat the second place winner at the Regional Meet. Then there are people who like to fly.
