The Student Council, is designed to govern the student body and is composed of representatives from each class and all organizations. Every year they sponsor the Annual King-Queen contest and are in charge of opening exercises in the assemblies. Initiating as new ideas this year the Student Council promoted Twirp Days and the student telephone directories. Representatives from the Council attended two top conventions in the state; the White House Convention and the State Student Council Convention. J0M2OOD5 The Boomer Band, under the direction of Mr. Jim Thompson, began their active year by entering the Alva Regional Marching Contest where they received a superior rating. Later they traveled to Shattuck and won a superior in both marching and concert. In March and Band won Superior ratings in Concert and Sight Reading, and Dwight O'dell, the Student Conductor, also received a superior. During April they journeyed to Norman to the State Contest and received an excellent rating in Concert and superiors for both sight reading and student conducting. For an enjoyable four day trip the band went to Canon City, Colorado and entered the Blossom Festival. In the latter part of the year the Boomer Band enjoyed being the Pride of Northwest Oklahoma while wearing their new uniforms for which the Delta Sorosis sponsored the drive. Phyllis Covalt . BOYS GLEE CLUB 61 Future Farmers of America Future Farmers, which is sponsored by Mr. Bill Smoot, helps each boy to better the rural America. They participate in fairs, hog shows, livestock and land judging contests. To raise money for the chapter, the F.F.A. sponsored a donkey basketball game in December and a slave auction in April. They attended the Pawnee Band Festival and also presented a Christmas concert for Western State Hospital at Fort Supply. During the Spring they presented their annual Spring concert.
