Later they traveled to Shattuck and won a superior in both marching and concert. In March and Band won Superior ratings in Concert and Sight Reading, and Dwight O'dell, the Student Conductor, also received a superior. During April they journeyed to Norman to the State Contest and received an excellent rating in Concert and superiors for both sight reading and student conducting. For an enjoyable four day trip the band went to Canon City, Colorado and entered the Blossom Festival.
