LUELLA YQIJSCE F.F.A. Queen BILLY RUTLEDGE lst Individual in Dairy Judging-Goodwell Ns. Bob Robinson, Everett Hunter, Dwight Van Dorn. lst Livestock team at Goodwell. 7th at Oklahoma State Fair. LE R OY TUNE lst in Meat Judging Goodwell 7.1.0. During the School year 1950-'51 there have been 45 boys enrolled in Vocational Agriculture and the Future Farmers ofAmerica. Officersfor this year have been: Bob Robinson, President, Dwight Van Dorn, Vice-President, Marvin Wells, Treasurer, Don Merrill,ReportergJ. D. Bar- nett, Secretary, and Everett Hunter, Sentinel. Group activities participated in this year were varied from farming 160 acres of wheat ground to mixing feed co-operatively. The boysraised 1,000 bushels of wheat this year on the F.F.A. farm and successfully cleaned, sacked, and sold the wheat for seed purposes to farmers in the community. Enough profit was made from farm- ing to purchase a new 12 foot one-way to be used in their farming operations. Plans are in order this year to farm all of the Air Base with the idea in mind of using scientific farming methods in all operations. One of the highest honors during the school year came in February when Marvin Wells showed the Champion Crossbred lamb in the SanAntonio Fat Stock Show that sold for 310.50 per lb. The lamb brought well over Sl,100.00. This year the F.F.A. boys fattened out 47 head of barrows, 12 calves, and 15 lambs for Fat Stock Shows. We showed the first place group of Calves and the second place group of lambs at- the Woodward Fat Stock Show. John Riley, and Bob Endersby showed first place barrows at Woodward. In the Oklahoma City Fat Stock Show, Marvin Wells showed the second place Shropshire Lamb and the third place light Hereford steer. Our school group of calves was fifth among 14 county and school groups. Our live stock team placed seventh at the Oklahoma State Fair in September. At the Good- well judging contests we had the first place livestock team composed of Everett Hunter, Dwight Van Dorn, and Bob Robinson- -Everett Hunter was high individual in the contest. Billy Rutledge was high man in Dairy judging, and LeRoy Tune won first in Meats judging and a medal for being the best all around judge at the Goodwell show. In the livestock contest held in Woodward in March, Bob Robinson won a medal for being the be st all around cattle judge and Everett Hunter for being the best sheep judge. ' This year we have two boys who have made application for State Farmer. This honor is the highest for an F.F.A. boy in the State. Our two candidateswere J. D. Barnett and Bob Robinson. Both boys own over 33,000.00 worth of livestock individually and have made labor incomes from their supervised farming programs exceeding S2,000.00. They have both been outstanding leaders in F.F.A. and rank high scholastically among their other subjects in school. J. D. is now serving as President of F.F.A. in the N.W. Dist. Both boys plan to continue their farming operations after finishing High School. This year our Chapter has presented 3 radio broadcasts and 4 Civic Club programs since school started. We have held a greenhand initiation and achievement program for 17 freshmen boys. Co-operated in beautifying the school grounds and raised approximately 51,000.00 as a group to carry on our work in the Chapter. We feel we have had a very satisfactory year and hope to accomplish more next year for our Chapter and School. www . k 3-Q : . 5 'KL . i . -WQQNXK - 1: , E ... ..
