Cl ass Histopij Listen, my friends, the story I’ll tell Of this Senior class we know so well. I really think it much completer To tell our clever deeds in meter. 'Twas in ’46 on a bright autumn day We entered here four years to stay. We said to ourselves, If students before Have honors won or achieved renown, We’ll do all they did and a little bit more, And some genuine scholarship show the town. Classes may come and classes may go But a class like ours they shall never know; Ready to work and ready to play, Ready for anything any day, And we’ll do our stuff in a great big way.” Then we said, Atta boy”, and with faces grim, Studied and crammed with determined vim Till we knew so much our brains grew fagged, And our eyelids drooped and our jawbones sagged. As Freshmen we started our fine career And made our mark in one short year With Buster Eoff, Kirby, Warren, and Mayes, Chalmers and Bouquot for feminine ways To our patient sponsors we owe the most, Annis, Espy, and Coach Provost. We were Sophomores ere the teachers learned What obvious talent in us burned. We chose to guide our carefree ways, Duane Carter, Kirby, Newby, and Mayes. Ginger and Bill did very well In showing our class knew how to yell. These sponsors kept us well in hand, Rogers, Sherrill and Hilderbrand. We were Juniors by the ancient rule, That governs every public school. ’Twas soon realized at last That here they’d found the model class. Seeman, Kirby, Mayes and Warren, Better officers were never born. Newby was selected as star reporter, Class news was never known to loiter. This year our class was really hep With Larry and Tom to lead our pep. For sponsors we chose for goals in sight, Riley, Deever, Doud and Wright. As the “Senior Class” we reigned supreme With faultless manners and minds grown keen. A bit puffed up, it may be true But aiming now at glories new. Seeman, Newby and Mayes did great, In making our class the highest rate. Tom and Katy led cheers to the last, For the school, the team, and the Senior Class. For sponsors we did nothing lack, With McCullough, Bartlett, and Mrs. Mac. So through our school went the Senior Class, And so through the world shall we proudly pass, Quite pleased with ourselves, and others as well, Our cheery presence the gloom will dispel. The laughs we’ve had, the fun we’ve seen, These things we leave behind, To choose the paths we each shall walk The lives we each shall find.
