co-operation given by the United States Field Station experts, the wholesale, manufacturing and business firms of Woodward. These contacts with scientific and business experts add vitality to and motivate effectively our school work. The public today is chiefly concerned with the product of our institutions, and the invariable question is, “What can you do?” A visit to our high school will reveal that the girls in the Home Art are skillful in making new dresses, altering old ones, and repair work. In the Home Science the girls acquire skill in cooking and serving, in economy of buying, knowledge in nutritive value of various foods, and in sanitation. In Manual Training the boys become adept in repairing furniture, proficient in construction of new and useful furniture, and acquire workmanship of the most approved type. Woodward High School graduates who elect commercial work are filling some of the best clerical positions in Woodward, while others are making their skill in commercial work pay their way through college. The so called regular college preparatory work—English, Foreign Languages, Mathematics, Sciences. Social Sciences (History, Civics, etc.)—are producing well-trained students who are sustaining a high type of work in our leading colleges and universities. Public speaking is receiving special attention and students in this department are in demand as entertainers at public gatherings and are winning high honors in inter-high school contests. The city of Woodward provides excellent opportunities foi study of music. The Woodward Board of Education is employing a full time music director for the ensuing year, and this special instructor will add much to the efficiency of the chorus, orchestra, and public school music in our public schools. Woodward High School sponsors a number of carefully supervised extra curricular activities. Among these activities are the Boomer staff, student council, class officials and organizations, play casts, debate, 4-H club, orchestra, chorus, football, basketball, track, pep organizations, etc. In these organizations pupils find many opportunities to get practical experience in group work, dealing with real citizenship problems. All sessions of these organizations are conducted under the guidance of the faculty advisors. Membership in these organizations is restricted to those students whose work and attitude are satisfactory to each member of the faculty under whom the student lias work. Each week a faculty session is held to check up on the scholastic work and attitude of each student. Any student whose work or conduct is unsatisfactory is dropped from extra curricular activities and cannot represent the school in athletic or literary events until all delinquencies have been removed to the satisfaction of every faculty member. The wide field of opportunities offered in the various types of school work and the various activities organized, together with the high standards of work sustained, have brought to Woodward High School, each year, an increasing number of non-resident students. Woodward High School is happy to have the honor annually to welcome this fine group of students coming from all parts of Northwestern Oklahoma and to share with these ambitious boys and girls the excellent educational opportunities. To our alumni and patrons it is quite evident that our high school must have enlarged quarters to foster a continuance of our splendid growth. Every nook and corner of our present building is occupied. Our gymnasium and auditorium have been transformed into shop and study halL Our imperative need is a new high school building, and we believe that our alumni and patrons will join in attaining this imperative need—a New High School Building. pmilllllllllllllliumjiiummm ru
