The band under its new director was very active this year and again brought musical enjoyment and praise to the school and community. Early in the school year lively music was heard throughout the town as the band sharpened its marching technique. One of the most enjoyable experiences of this group was in presenting a joint concert with Gibson- burg's band. It provided an opportunity for both organizations to make new acquaintances and work to- gether on an endeavor of common interest. Representatives of the various sections made up the pep band which played at the home basket- ball games. The snappy marches and ragtime tunes greatly aroused the spirit of both the spectators and the cagers. 1. My The contest held at Hopewell-Louden was another venture from which the band members derived pleasure and musical proficiency. Many hours were spent in practice sessions before participating in the contest.

FIRST ROW: Mike Turner, Ed Botts, Abe Alba, Allen Koch, Terry Magsig, Allen Damschroder. The Varsity Club is composed of high school boys who have earned their letter in basketball or baseball. To elect officers this year they used a very unique method. The first three to speak were made President, Vice-President, and Secretary, res- pectively. Consequently, their officers are: President . . . . . . Abe Alba Vice-President . ..... Ed Botts Secretary ........ ........ C oach Eyler They all enjoyed the basketball game at the Toledo Sports Arena when the Harlem Globetrotters were there. As a money-making project they are selling score cards at the home games. On October 27, they welcomed the new members by initiation.
