Happeny. semen pta Wednesday, November 10, by special arrangement with Samuel French, Spring Green, a delightful comedy by Ryerson and Clements was presented by the Senior Class. The action revolves around a boy whose father cannot understand him because his interests in life are not those of the so-called boy. Repeated attempts of the father to reach his son are thwarted by the boy's apparent indifference to all those things whichthe father deems important. Then at the very moment when a satisfactory solution seems to have been found, the son, who hitherto has been wholly unaware that girls even exist, develops an almost maudlin attachment for the sister of one of his classmates. From then on. of course, complications multiply, until the solution to all problems is finally found. Edward Botts has the role of the son who affords his father flohn Littlej many occasions for worry, irritation and consternation, especially after he becomes infatuated with the sister fMary Lou Niedermeierj of his classmate QAllen Damschroderj. The father in his turn is very much interested in his widowed childhood sweetheart QLynne Witmery who is herself the understanding mother of two daughters. The older girl QBobby Arnelingj has a crush on the high school hero fTerry Magsigl whose affections are vied for by Doris Happeny. The youngest daughter Uudy Radeloffj together with the irascible grandfather fwillie Emchl and the cook Uoyce Taulkerj further complicate the affairs of the household. Others who manage in one way or another to add to the entanglement are Faye Baumer, Roy Huston, Roger Hinricks, Sadie Pirtle, and Edward Bruns. The play was under the direction of Miss Anthoneda P. Huyssen.

All-SChOOl DLA The four one-act plays were presented March 11 with a cast representing the upper four grades. Girls Must Talk finds Caro1Bruns andJoyceTau1ker as window dressers arrang- ing finery on dummies Vicky Blackmore, Gail Frobose, Dewanna Lisk and Mary Lou Taulker, who manage to say quite a bit both in their own behalf and to the disparagement of window dressers in general. In Playwright's Dilemma, Allan Koch portrays the playwright who is trying to decide how to end his play. Nothing he works out with the aid of his characters CBobby Ameling, Marilyn Avers, Pat Wilkolek, Bob Bockbrader, Wade Schulte, and Dave Youngj seems to please him. At last, when almost in desperation, he hits upon the solution to his dilemma. Hour of Honor concerns a man who has let his son take the blame for a crime which he himself committed. The man QDave Youugj has failed to keep the one promise exacted by the son when the latter took upon himself the father's guilt and punishment. Suspecting that the father may know why the son has grown so bitter during his stay in prison, the uncle QEd Bottsy attempts to force the issue and learn the truth on the very day when the son, having served his sentence, is expected home. The roles of the mother, the fiancee, and the neighbor are portrayed respectively by Mary Lou Niedermeier, Miriam Obermyer, and Carol Meyer. The action of The Valiant revolves around a man condemned to death. The role of the prisoner-to-be-executed is taken by Ed Bottsg the warden, by Allen Crandallg the prison chaplain, by Ed Brunsg the girl, by Virginia Camperg the jailer and the attendant by Galen Sandwisch and Abe Alba, respectively.

ABSENTEES: Allan Koch. CRAITIAUCS ASSGCIAIIGH Much of the credit for the success of the plays at Woodville High School should rightly fall on the Dramatics Association. This group of students holds monthly meetings in which various phases of the theater are studied. At one of the most interesting meetings this year, Miss Huyssen explained the history of make-up in the theater. Following this stirring lecture, the meeting took the form of a workshop in which the members practiced making-up themselves and fellow actors. Reading plays aloud is another favorite activity at the Dramatics Association's meetings. Experimenting with short scenes and action with sound effects provided the members an interesting and informative meeting.
