Mills Joe Thompson Mary Ann David Bonnie Toler Alex Ventress Ann Catchings Joe Bunch Dorothy V hite is Buddy Bass SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Dear Reveille: We, the class of 1950, started our school career at a very young age. Since then there have been many changes. Although a few of us have managed to come through. We are Mildred Anderson, Joe Bullock, Joe Bunch, Buddy Bass, Clytie Dooley, Mary Ann David, Sonny Rosso, Annie L. Mills, Joe Thompson, Ronnie Toler, Alex Ventress, Ann Catchings, Dorothy White, Philip Chaffin, Marilyn Hill, Margarot Williams, Grace Wallace, Lillian Koch, and Peter Stockett. Our first years were spent in trying to grasp the fundamentals for a foundation to later history. All through the grades we encomtored many ups and downs, includinr measles, mumps, and whooping cough. Although it was quite a struggle v.e made the eight grade up to standard. There were eighteen of us when we entered high school as poor green freshmen and who soent our first week banging into the wrong room in search of our classes. Our sponser for that year was Coach Huey Magers. Beginning our sophomore year we had five new students added to our class, they were Joe Bullock, Sonny Rosso, Tommy D'Aquilla, Joe Bunch, and Nita Walkor. Thomas Maher '«as with us for a short while but did not complete the year. We were sorry to lose Mary Catchings and Geraldine Teal, who both moved away. Richard Inman liked the sonhomore class so well he staved in it for another year. Ahl The Junior year, and we find that wo are a class of twenty. We presented an excellent Junior Play, For Pete's Sake , under the sponsorship of Miss Lora Jean Hillman. Shortly after the play, the Junior-Senior banquet followed. The theme of our banquet was the 49 ners, which was ri”en in the school cafeteria, decorated as a camping scene during the 41 gold rush. Patsy Berry and Mary Leake skipped a year to become dignified seniors. We lost Tommy D'Aquilla but Dorothy White, and Marilyn Hill, and Philip Chaffin joined us. As Seniors wo are well represented in school activities. Our class sponsor is Mr. Hugh McCraney, who has been the best yet. This year we olan to put on a senior play in order to raise funds to meet our needs. We hope to be the first class to graduate in our new school. Class officers are the following: President: J.L. Jones Vice-President: Philip Chaffin Sec-Treasurer: Margaret Williams Reporters: Grace Wallace and Mildred Anderson And now we've turned twelve well-worn leaves Each filled with joys and frowns, and tears: And Fate, the everlasting, sees What waits for us beyond these years. US 16 CLASS WILL Being of sound and disposing mind and memory and of lawful age, I make, publish, and declare this to my last will and testament. Wholly written, dated and signed on this seventh day of March in the year of our Lord nineteen and fifty. 18 CLASS PROPHECY The literary committee was very much at loss on how we would find out the futures of our classmates until one day we got a secret message from Madam Lazonga who offered to let us look into her crystal ball to see our classmates ten years from now. We proceeded very cautiously to her hide-a-way and when we had entered, she bade us look into the crystal ball. What's this we see in the crystal ball? Ah] Give us our magnifying glass. Why, it's Mildred Anderson, chewing gum queen, who now owns the largest bubble gum manufacturing plant in the world. Mildred is really stuck on her job. Next we see Bass's Casino, located on the by-pass just outside of Woodville. Buddy's place is one of the largest night- clubs in the South and is well-known for its beautifyl chorus girls. Up at Notre Dame we find Joe Bullock, famous Woodville High football player, who is now coaching the Notre Dame team. 1 hey haven11 lost a game in rive successive years. Therefs not one player on the team that doesn't have that famous Bullock wave. Gazing into the crystal ball we see a 50,000 acre plantation. Who is the owner of this great plantation? The sign on the front says Bunch's Plantation. Why it must be Joe Bunch, owner of half of Wilkinson County. Through the hazy mist we see the great authoress Ann Catchings who has just finished her latest book, SliDDine Around. Her book consists of three easy lessons on how to sneak out at night and let the good times roll. Who is it that we see working in the President's office? Why, it's Mary Ann David, who is now the President's private secretary. We hear Mary Ann is working for the position of the First Lady of the Land. 19 In the distance we see a huge factory. The sign near the door says Dooley's Freckle Cream. ' Clytie has finally hit on a raillion-dollar formula for getting rid of freckles. What's this we see on the theatre marque in twenty-foot lights? Marilyn Hill starring in Love Be Lost. Marilyn has now succeeded Helen Hayes as the first lady of the American stage, screen, and radio. Around the world with Kochi This is the famous slogan of Koch's shipping lines. Their owner, director, and president is our own Lillian Koch, who got her experience with ships while serving as a Wave in the U. S. Navy, Next we see an interesting sign in the road-- Mills Sugar Mills, Two Mills —we mean miles. Annie Laurie has acquired millions from a revolutionary formula for making sugar out of old rubber boots. Philip Chaffin is now peacefully settled on his country estate outside of Woodville. What's that noise? Did we say peacefully? Here he comes now on his latest invention, the Dipsey-Doodle motorcycle which flies, goes backwards, and floats on water. J. L. Jones, the biggest construction engineer in the South, is now constructing as a side line his own Jones Drive Inn which occupies two acres of land in the suburbs of Woodville. It Is a favorite of all teen-agers; it seems J. L. still remembers when he was one. In the crystal ball we next see—what do we see? What is this strange place? Why are the people all wearing black and white striped uniforms? Could it be, why we're looking at Peter Stockett in Alcatraz. Peter talked his way In and Is now trying to talk his way out. Next we see a flash of the headlines of 1960. Joe Thompson has Just made a record flight around the’world in 2.5 seconds in his new rocket ship. Joe is the most sourht after bachelor In the nation. 20 Down in Texas we see the famous Key's Ranch which is now Ventress's Ranch. Alex is raising good-looking fillies. Due to her ability to speak at all times, Dorothy White is the first woman vice-president of the United States. Dorothy has formed a new woman's political party. Next we come upon the offices of the famous artist, Margaret Williams. Margaret has succeeded Walt Disney as the world's famous comic strip artiat and writer. Through the mist we see Sonny Rosso who is now a famous model at Broadway Fashions in New York. Sonny seems to like that New York Life. On Fifth Avenue, a very select beauty salon is operated by Grace Wallace. All the Hollywood stars go there to get the new decie hairdo, which is a rage throughout the nation. 21 miis Mr. L. E. One student very appropriately remarked that you are actually paying to get killed when you try to fight that line to the candy store. But no wonder—-the candy that the Juniors sell is so good, everybody tries to get at it at once. A Coke? SureJ Didn't you see the Coca Cola machine when you entered downstairs? Taken out. Oh, No| That was only a threat.
