1 971 Season The Woodview freshmen track team recorded an undefeated 1971 season. Freshmen coaches, Charles Pfluger and Bob Wood kept the cindermen's spirits high. Paul Shad- day broke the school record in the shot put, while teammate Dale Stctina broke the record in the mile and a half. Jim Meyers and Bruce Martin also broke existing school records. Only one loss prevented the 7th md 8th grade track team from compiling a perfect record. Coaches, Bruce Rustcr and Bob Spencer led the team in hard work and practice. Such individual talents as Jim Sor- rell, Mike Patterson, Terry Virt and Howard Grounds, along with the relay team helped give the 7th and Bth grade track team a winning season. if 1- s Fans watch 8th grade cinderman, Jim Sorrell go all out as he crosses the finish line with a substantial lead. . 1 ' 'vu 1 in Front row-R. Wednesday night intramurals has large turnout since many Woodview boys are interested in basketball competition. 8th grader, Brian Warne moves around defender for shot. Noodvievv Offers Expanded Intramural Program Intramurals stress physical fit- ness and fair play. School Council along with sponsors Dennis Kelly and Sid Hancock have worked to expand the program into a year round activity. This year's activities included flag football, basketball, volleyball, and softball. These after school games are open to any boy who is not playing interscholastically for Woodvicw.
