Way to Successful Record For the second consecutive year, the freshman football team com- piled a 6-1 season. For the first time in Woodview's history, how- ever, the 9th grade squad defeated Creston, 8-0. The game which was played at Warren Central was viewed by a record number of spectators. Under the rigid coaching ofGene Nesbit and Bruce Ruster, the team put together a well diversified offense and a hard hitting defense. jim Sorrell was the leading ground gainer with 1012 total yards and 16 touchdowns. The offensive unit scored a total of 197 points and the defense allowed only 58 opposing points. Every Woodview victory was the result of total team effort. Wingbaclc Bill Henrichs outruns Ben Davis tackler for a quick six point touchdown. Freshman end Mitch Smock oucmaneuvers his Ben Davis opponent after catching a pass from the quarterback. Leading ground gainer, Jim Sorrell sweeps around end with the football.

Grade Football Squad Proves Talented Punter Steve Baker gets kick off in spite of Creston rushe The Sth grade football team, led by coaches, Wood, Lukcns, jones and Klinger, battled to a 2-2-2 sea- son record. Coach Wood stressed practice and hard work and the team showed improvement as the season progressed. Backed by the hard-nosed run- ning of railback Mike Patterson and the impressive receiving of end Steve Green, the 8th grade Braves scalped the Creston Indians in a hard fought contest, 8-6. The defense held their oppo- nents to a respectable season average of 5 points. Doug Scholtz, middle linebacker contributed much to the defensive unit's success. Good blocking from Cliff Bradley Green to score touchdown against Bch grade quarterback Robbie Meyer warms up passing arm at practice.
