Now you'l1 never forget me! ALFRED YOUNG, do will and bequeath my ability to stay out of trouble with teachers to Jon Beckley. Mr. Evans' paper work gets pretty discouraging sometimes. After spilling three cups of coffee, knocking over all the mug books into the trash can, and forgetting my name twice, I decided that it was definitely time to take a vacation from my hectic police schedule. Staring out my office window, I saw my close contact, social worker Shirley Butson, getting out of her '67 VJJ. I watched amusingly as she trinned over the curb, bumped into a fire hydrant, and dropned her car keys. I wasn't the only one who needed a vacation! Within minutes I had 'conned' her into taking a week off from work. I put my Out-to-Lunch sign on my office door, fed my dog Rover, and we were off. Touched by waves of nostalgia, we found ourselves driving towards our old hometown, woodsville. we hadn't been there since high school graduation, ten years ago. Once we arrived, we discover- ed that a Country Club had been built on the site where the Community Field once stood. we thought it would be an excellent place to take our badly needed vacation. As we drove up to the front gate, we met Varilyn Blaisdell, who was engaged in an argument with Arnold wright and Robin Wheeler, used car dealers. It seemed that they were trying to tow Narilyn's beat-up white station wagon away with their HWe-have-the-right-wheels-for-youU tow truck. ' we asked Marilyn to tell us about the origin of the Country Club. She told us that it had been designed by famous architect Bonne Smith and constructed by the old Building Trades boys, Brian Blood, Robert Clifford, Kevin Fagnant, Jim Fitzgerald, Peter Gibson, and Frank Rodiman, who had forgotten to build a door and had to start over. We gazed at what was truly a work of artg for we had never seen a pear-shaped Country Club before. Upon entering the building, we saw Diana Caswell, Reba Evans, and Mary Lamarre behind the check-in desk. They had recently graduated from a ten-year program at Bruce Bishop's Secretarial School, where the motto, nBishops can make you a saintly secretaryn proved to be false, for the girls were employed as bag-boys. After checking into the Club, owner Peter Hall who was obviously very unset, greeted us. It seemed that Dana Smith .......... ... Yes! It was I, Dana Smith, the notorious villian on the loose. I escaped from psychologist Linda Hobinson's nStraight- Jacket Correctional Centern last night. When I left, Linda was still trying to diagnose Cindy Gibson, the neurotic, split- nersonality case, alias nEmi1yU, I was lucky enough to have snuck out in a garbage can, and I soon made my way to this Club, thinking I might be safe... Now, I thought, what evil could I do here? what's this? I soon realized that I was in the midst of a fashion show. Photo- granher Paul Tetreault was busily cranking his handle, as model- designer Nancy Bruckner was exhibiting her latest creation, while Donna Ingerson was trying unsuccessfully to describe it. After pinching Donna, I ran over and hid in the corner of the room, where international playboys, John Burrill and David Brown, were trying to hustle Sears and Roebuck models, Vicki Decato and Denise Chase. Vicki and Denise were more interested in the art display titled, Wfhe Blobn, created by Clint Boyce, Bruce Crawford, Barb Martin, and Eddie Mozekia. -a Just then a stray ping-pong ball hit me on the head and I turned around to witness a ping-pong version of the nhattle of the Sexesn, between Randy Gibson and Anita Basch. Their game soon ended when I stole their ping-pong ball. I was then trampled by ten little kidii from Debbie Apt's nBrat Child-Care Center. Debbie tried to apologize for Linda Fadden's and Leslie Pierson's children, but I took all of the children's lollypops before Debbie could speak. Just then I discovered that I was being trailed by the police, so I asked directions to the golf course, where I would be safe, from Cindy Chicoine, who had put to good use the six months she spent in Canada during her senior year of high school. She was now working as a French translator, with only one problem, she could only speak one word...OUI! I then bumped into millionaire Steven Glines, world-renowned civil engineer, designer of the famous HNQ Leakw dam which had recently flooded 103 eastern cities. Steve was making eyes at singer Diana Brooks, who recently had received a grammy for her version of the song, Hhridge Over Troubled Matersn. I passed the snack bar and saw Mark Hutchinson, world-famous Navy cook, stuffing hamburgers down Chuck Hwimpyn Sackett's throat. I overheard Maurice Cutherson, who had replaced nhaurice the Catu on the Nine-Lives T.V. commercial, talking to Marie Downer, owner of Downy's Fabric Softner. while heading out to the course, I passed Jimmy Davidson, who was DUmDiHg gas into Alfred Young's faithful bicycle, while Pauline Hollos was trying to guess the number of miles Alfred had traveled. Loretta Nystrom and Diane Patoine were selling lemonade for a dollar a glass, telling their customers that the Club's water had been poisoned. Once on the golf course, I burried myself in the sand pit, hoping I would be safe for the meantime, if I didn't suffocate first Following a hot tip, we trailed Dana to the golf course, but before we reached it, we stopped at the tennis courts where James Hall and Bill Grimes were playing a tie-breaker after l?6 sets. They were using Kevin Ball's Bouncing Tennis Ballsg no wonder their game was so short! A scream quickly turned our heads as we watched George Corey trying to throw Brad Maynes into the pool, but lifeguard Teresa Bagonzi didn't want Brad to get his neckbrace wet, besides, she was having a hard enough time trying to save Steve Holden from drowning. Ronnie Fullerton, who had just won the Boston Marathon, was being chased by Hell's Angel Jerry Carr, who swore he could drive faster than Ronnie could run. Paula Shute, owner of the Country C1ub's rifle range was causing an uproar. UDon't shoot I'm only the Piano Playern cried Jeff Fullerton, after bullets riddled the lounge while, Jeff, the one-man band was performing. we finally reached the golf course, but before we could start our search for Dana, a huge crowd attracted our attention. We went over to check it out and were astonished to learn the Pilot Roscoe Rlaisdell had just landed a twodseater motorized hang-glider with three people in itg never before had such a feat been accomplished! Roscoe had flown straight from Fenway Park, where Houston Pitcher, Jim MacDonald had just pitched a no-hitter. Cfhe other team had forgotten to bring bats9l Stewardess Diana MacDonald had ridden comfortably on Boscoe's shoulder and served tea. A we turned on our radio to see if there location of Dana and were surprised to hear of a new lGO-watt radio station, announcing which featured Theresa Boy, the only jockey was any work on the Luanne Powers, owner the Kentucky Derby, in history to sit hack- wards in the saddle. Linwood McKean was helping out Luanne by interrupting every ten seconds with his Bodyshop advertisement. Just then we heard a velp coming from the direction of the sand - pit. Jamie Graham, who held a golfing record of the fan- tastic average of 107 strokes per sand trap, had accidentally clubbed Dana with his nine-iron. But it was too late! Real Estate Broker, Rick Fullerton had just purchased the Club from Peter for twice the amount of money it was north! Rick was determined to set up a bird sanctuary and Peter, who thought Rick was a little birdy, just couldn't resist a bargain like that. Just as everyone was leaving after Peter announced that the Club was closed, Donna Prescott drove up beside Mari1vn's station wagon. Donna had kept her record of continual tardiness that she had established in high school. With Dana out cold in the back seat of in the sand pit, and Ricky with a canary on the V.w., Jamie still his shoulder, we drove off into the sunset, to return to our familiar ways of spillina coffee and tripping over curbs! The students, however limited, learned many interesting things in the classroom and then divided themselves into two archaelogical teams. Each team had a leader. They dug and planted different artifacts and the others had to figure, decipher, and measure everything in order to establish what kind of civilization it was and when it was developed. The new class has brought quite a bit of excitement around the school and one can be sure that many are going to have Anthropology written down on their next year's schedule card. It means that for that one year you are the best. The 1976 WHS basketball team was the best in Class M. The winning of a championship is the combined effort of the players and the coach to Work to- gether as one flawless unit. I believe that the desire to be perfect along with the will to win are the two main keys to the success this year. To be the best and win the championship is the ulti- mate goal of many people. To accom- plish this feat is something extra spe- cial, and something nobody can take away from you. The winning of the championship is to be looked back upon with fond memories, remembering that for that one moment you are THE BEST. Steve G Can you imagine winning two State Class M champion- ships in one year? That is ex- actly what Woodsville High School did. In Plymouth, N.I-I. at the Class M Basketball Cham- pionships it was a night for the Burrill brothers. Who will ever forget the shot Scott Burrill blocked and the foul shots John Burrill made to clench the championship in our hands. Fans were everywhere cheering, screaming, and elated that we were again .ffl in the State. Everyone on that bus will re- member that night down to the 60 car parade with police es- cort through the town and up to the Community Building for a celebration. On Graduation Day players boarded the bus and headed to Manchester. Thanks to jim MacDonalds's excellent pitch- s ing we won the game. Other memorable moments were when Randy Gibson hit a perfect bunt down the 3rd baseline and Scott Burrill leaping on to home plate again gaining the BEST for us. Mr. Raymond Craigie has been the director for the past few years and under his guidance the band has come a long way. Last spring our band program had an exchange concert with Montpelier, Vermont. This was a valuable experience for both sides. New friendships were developed and new music began. Miss Edith -- Emery with her steady head guides the chorus to great performances each year with each out doing the previous one. Again it was a good year, musically.
