Each departure from the last generation shapes the soul of our generation. By seeking what we can know and questioning tradition, we affect our world. Anticipation of the new is evolution to our minds. Attaining our goals-a time consuming, exhausting, stimulating experience. Newness excites our imaginations, but we are still bewildered by trying to know what we have never seen. Each day in our life is an upheaval of the child in us to make room for the adult in us tn develop. We strive to be a little different-or radically different. Our appearances can separate us from our elders and link us with our peers. Leaders and followers are common to every generation. The leaders try to change while the followers choose to modify. Revolution is not destructive if the new is an improvement over the old-this is PROGRESS. ,vp 2+ is-. ,..M,. ,.,, - ,... 4 mg, Student-Life Gazing into the glowing embers that ra- diate the warmth of the present, we see sparks which can kindle the blazing fires of the future. There are flames within us, too, which send us away with a lasting glow from the undying fire of Woodstown High. 6' iff W, 1' W T ii is s ,q t W P X f.','y m ' A -f X , I f X5 'V ,g f' 2, Y ig U 02 EMM! i 4,195 y fig: A ? f x 1 r xi ' Q l -' 'Lx' 5 Q I- 1 'effi- a 7 6,6 Vx ,Q Y ef-1: -, V ' .. ! ri fg'1fAf,x A 5, ., 3, ah? .v Vi ' I -2 v -Q 3 s , x as -,V Excitement As our excitement is aroused, it bursts into flame - but then we must hurry on . 4 Exploration Into the past we see. Dedication With great admiration and respect, we of the Senior class dedicate the 1967 Woodchips to Mrs. Edith Stein in recognition of her gen- erous devotion to our school and to us. Each of us will remember her in a different way-as a junior English teacher, as advisor of the Future Teachers of America as a woman with a warm and wonderful 7 personality, as a friend .... Mrs. Stein's classes are not only groups of students to be taught and testedg they are, rather, a collection of individuals who are personally guided to future success. In this manner, Mrs. Stein has won the respect of us all. This admiration will last well beyond our high school years. Thus, this dedication can be but a small token of our appreciation for what she has done. I 6 N The whole art of teaching is only the art of awakening the nat- ural curiosity of young minds for the purpose of satisfying it after- wards. -Anatole France Facult Do you see that ray glowing in the darkness? It was the light we followed. That one gleam of brightness led us forward. Look! Do you see it? A star ..... A warm glow of understanding A smile . . . The flame is ahead . . . We struggle, But a hand is there for guidance. 1' E 4 ,'T, ,V 5- n 2112 as E Q -s. Tremendous and exciting changes have taken place during your Woodstown High School years. Many of these changes have been of a physical nature and may be ticked off as one moves around our buildings and grounds. Other, not so obvious but possibly more important, changes have taken place in curriculum, staff, organization, and policy. Education needs to be dynamic. Change is necessary, not just for the sake of change itself, but to effectively meet the challenges that are here and just around the corner. To you, who have been very much a part of and, in reality, the purpose of our changes, I offer congratulation and felicitation as you move on to accept the challenges of a constantly changing environment. IJ. SUPERINTENDENT The Premise of Change The great potential of today's youth rests upon our ability to accept CHANGE. While change in itself does not necessarily signify progress-progress is not possible without it. Where change exists-challenge remains. Let this quality of our youth continue to be that which is so necessary in a democracy. at bv L2 y PRINCIPAL , fr n. 'X 9l7 T I967 gc , ximff wif Nl lm, W iw ot Salem Countyhigh school students have contributed to our success Establishment ot Du Pont's pioneer organic chemicals industry at Deepwater Point in 1917 opened new career opportunities for a host ot Salem County's young people, several generations of whom have contributed to the success of this plant and, in return, have shared the fruits ot their productivity. Fifty years ago, a scholastic education wasn't as essential to getting a iob as it is today. With good physique, normal intelligence and character, most any mature male could find some form of work for a livelihood. However, even then, high school and college graduates held the advantage in iob selection and progression. As industrial techniques became more sophisticated, and pressure ot expanding population created greater competition tor iobs, the need for advance preparation in education and skills has increased. Today, a high school diploma is a primary requirement for novice iob applicants at Chambers Works. Now entering its second halt-century, Chambers Works will continue to look upon the graduating classes ot Salem County high schools as a maior source ot tuture employees, male and female, for non-technical positions and lwith college degreesi for technical posts. Thus we urge the young people of this area to make the most ot their development opportunities through high school at least and through college, it at all possible. w Du Pont is an Equal dpportunity Employer. The Company's policy ls W to hire and promote qualified candidates lor available iob openings without discrimination in respect to race, creed, color, sex or origin. lle.v.l. 1.08 ham bers Works Ll. dtlP0lI'l' do NEMOIIRS It CO., INC. o good neighbor industry ot Salem County, tl.
