- - . - , £ Jf, ■ V I96S Eureka Woodstock High School Dedication We, the class of 1968, are probably speaking for every alumnus of Woodstock High School when we say we want to dedicate the 1968 Eureka to the school. This dedica- tion is not simply to the school building, gym, and shop, but to the memories that they have made possible. Although there will never again be a Woodstock High School, there will always, we hope, be a Woodstock school spirit. This Page Sponsored by STOWELL SILK SPOOL CO. Jn Memo riant Leon Poland and Chester Hopkins, both alumni of Woodstock High School, have made a sacrifice that can never be repaid. Although we are sad to have lost these men, we can also be proud that they have died fighting in wars to keep our great nation and weaker nations free. 2 faculty FRONT ROW—Mrs. Rolfe, Miss Plaisted, Mrs. Lord, Mr. McCann—Principal SEC- OND ROW--Mr. Dupre, Mr. Keniston THIRD ROW—Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Clements, Mr. Chretien FOURTH ROW--Mr. Bean, Mr. Brown, Mr. Emery. I know I' 11 keep the Girls' State spirit down in my heart , as the song says, for a long time. Not only did we have a good time learning about government by holding town meetings and State elections, but all 369 girls made at least one new and long-lasting friendship. I would like to thank the faculty for nominating me and the American Legion Auxiliary for sponsoring me. Craig Morgan Last summer I had the privilege of being a delegate to the 20th Annual Dirgio Boy's State, Dirigo Boy's State is held at the University of Maine in Orono and is concerned primarily with the intense study of state government. This year there were 508 boys from all parts of the state. When we were not studying or listening to one of the many interesting lectures, groups of boys would get together and discuss such things as schools and sports. The highlight of the week was a talk by Governor Curtis on lowering the voting age. It is impossible to express in words the wonderful time I had. Only the boys who have attended in the past can know what it meant to me. I only wish that many more boys could attend each year. I wish to thank the Jackson-Silver American Legion Post of Lockes for sponsoring me. 15 Office Qirls FRONT ROW—P. Wing, D. Foster, S. Boyce, B. Sicotte SECOND ROW—L. Davis, R. Burnham, L. Cross. Joyce Farwell Oh, For A Little Fat Oh, if I should gain an ounce or a pound, I'd shout and yell and be heard the world around. For I've been trying to gain some weight, By taking double of everything I ate. So far it has all been to no avail, I'm still blown over by every gale Doctors all said some weight I must gain, But all their advice was given in vain. For weeks and weeks I've tried everything, From meat and potatoes to coffee rings. I've finally realized my fate. I shall always weigh 258. Andrea Swan 28 My Buddy I like to sit in study hall, And watch the kids all study. But the one who studies most of all Is none other than my buddy He sits and does his homework Although I don't know why If I did all the work he did I know I'd probably die He's probably got the right idea And he gets his thanks. Cause when the nine weeks are up He gets better ranks. Craig Morgan Kisses Dr. George Jekyl, 40, and Dr. Park Hyde, 45, have completed a long term research project, which was financed by the Lipstick Manufacturers Association. The associa- tion hoped to prove that Mononucleosis, also know as the Kissing Disease, can be controlled if not cured if both parties are wearing lipstick at the time of contact. The results of the project are heartening. Although Doctors Jekyl and Hyde are now suffering from Mono as it is known affectionately in the trade, they both remarked it took eight wonderful years to come down with it. The one fly in the ointment is the additional discovery that even an extra-heavy coating of lipstick will not prevent the spread of the disease in some instances, and the doctors have accordingly warned the public to shy away from kissing turtles and or parakeets on the lips. Jekyl and Hyde, when they have recovered sufficiently, will re-enact their methods of experimentation before the cameras. A photo of their triumph may be seen on a future, Great Moments in Medicine calendar. Then again it may not. 29 Andrea Swan S.J.
