Making The Fun All work and no play? No way! Sometimes you’ve got to have some fun. You know how it is, you’ve studied for days, you’ve made it through mid-terms, and the weekend is finally here! Once in a while, well maybe more than just once in a while, Academy students find it necessary to let go, get rid of tension and stress that comes from term papers, algebra, and basketball practice. Get the picture? They say that your high school years are The Best of Times”. This may or may not always be true, but you must admit weren’t the dances fun? Class trips? And do you remember spirit week and homecoming? How about the time when you tried out for the play, or when you socred the winning point? Remember the slave auction and working at the haunted barn? Remember laughing with your friends at the lunch table, and lying in the sun on the lawn? Many of the things we'll remember about high school are all the fun things we did, and the good times we shared with our teachers and friends. So take a few minutes to relax, and remember the best of times. 10 C.C.

Making It Known She tells him He tells her She tells somebody else There’s just no cure. The words, they fly From lip to lip. The stories, they grow As the tongue does slip. How can we stop All this air polution? I believe silence Is the only solution! 9 •H.G.

Floods of fads. They come roll- ing in with the tide. At 7:45 am the tide brings in a new, exciting fad and swoosh! By 2:40 pm it is swept away into the ocean of old, abandoned fads. We, the seagulls, flutter around the beach waiting to see what the tide brings in. Swooping down, we pick them up eagerly and fly off showing our new found discovery. Soon there are hundreds of seagulls dotting the sky, holding in their beaks the new found fad. Down below a lone, brown-speck- led gull looks up towards his peers. To him they are the same, he is an indi- vidual, but he is missing out because he will not go with the flock. He does not find this fad fascinating. Does anybody remember alligator shirts and preppy names? They’ve sunk down to the bottom of the ocean where they are slowly being eaten by the fish. Words are drowned too. To- tally Awesome. A fast fading fad ea- ten up by the sharks is the image of a Valley girl reflecting in the blue ocean water. Oh yes, we seagulls had to get the punk sunglasses and the ankle- boots. And what about the Michael Jackson album cover now saturated with salt water? The seagulls flew so far to find an OP shirt: now it is drift- wood. The translucent blue jelly san- dals are entagled in the seaweed. The flavor of jelly bracelets, millions of them, will not taste good to the fish. Ear clips also dot the ocean's floor. Swatches, which hit the seagulls like a tidal wave, will form a coral reef of time. All of these fads flood the ocean: a characteristic of the past. The brown-speckled gull stares up again at his peers. He wonders what the new, full moon will bring In future days. He sighs Floods of fads. -P.W.
