We found the theme of change pertinent. The concept of the yearbook is changing. It is no longer a preservation of tradition, but rather a representation of the present. The staff attempted to develop a better yearbook by implementing several artistic and technical changes, among them new layout technique, conservation of space by eliminat- ing advertisements, and perhaps the most notable change to a side binding. This arduous task certainly could not have been attempted without the devotion of staff members: seniors Barbara Mitchell, Sue Emerson, Cheryl Boutwell, Richard Pierce, and juniors Sandi Croteau, Mark Howland, Jerry Kuper, Ginny Peck and Scott Horsley. We ex- tend our deepest thanks to Mr. Robert Smith, Advisor, Mr. Guy Grube of Grube Studios and Mr. James Findley of Bradbury, Sayles, O'Neill—Paragon. Sincerely, Jane Peterson Editor-in-Chief Spire 1971
