Zke Spire Woodstock Jauieuuj 1963 Dedication We. the Class of 1963. proudly and affectionately dedicate THE SPIRE to Mrs. Lucy Parkerton, a helpful, understanding teacher and friend. She has rendered every possible service to uphold the spirit of Woodstock Academy and has worked diligently for our educational improvement. llUl ttbp headmaster Message Winston Churchill once promised: H. tears, and sweat . . . v ji Csv,V •, Before the first successful airplane flight had been made, H. G. Wells observed: All the world is heavy with the promise of greater things, and a day will come, one day in the unending succession of days, when beings, beings who are now latent in our thoughts and hidden in our loins, shall stand upon this earth as one stands upon a footstool, and shall laugh and reach out their hands amidst the stars. The world is full of toil, tears, and sweat; it is also on the brink of laughter as it reaches out amidst the stars. Winston Churchill and H. G. Wells wrote these quota- tions many years ago, but they are still true and apply to each of you. Earnest pursuit of your objectives, whatever they may be, will ensure that you will make a valuable contribution toward that time when the world reaches the stars. Your toil, tears, and sweat will have been an important step in man's progress. You do not need to strive for material success, but if you endeavor to do your best at whatever you undertake, you will find yourselves laughing and reaching out amidst the stars. toil Jh Memoriam We, the class of '63, will never forget Otto, our be- loved friend.
