You can participate at your school by being active in all the clubs and teams you are eligible for, for example, take part in as many of the sports you can, and do it because it makes you feel good not because of the glory and honor it will give you. Participate with clubs, for example, Key Club and Keyettes do things that bring honor and respect to our school. If everybody par- ticipated, think of how much better our school would be. ab RX f '9 H rl ' ,gf - i , ,, I , ,VV'i N l ' .g,, Wk, V VVV i ' ,, e M M 1 1 .W ' , A gia FQ it E ,,,, mL:X:.L. ,,,,,,w ,. i. gal . ' . ENJOY WOODRUFF Some people think of Woodruff as just another school where you have to sit and listen all day. But it's not that way at all. School can be fun if you make it that way. Take for instance our physical education classes, everybody hates to take P.E. but it can really be fun. And the most fun period of the day is probably lunch, when you can get together with your friends and just sit around and talk. In order to enjoy yourself at school you have to want to be happy. Don't just walk around telling everybody how much you hate school, try liking it for a change. You'd be surprised how much you can enjoy school. ---.., v 5, iS ,-1 ,p vs T' 'rf r ' WORK FOR WOODRUFF Everybody has a special job to do, whether it be at home or school or somewhere else, whether it pays with money or satisfaction. For example, the security guards have an important job to do at school, and the teachers also have a responsibility, to the students, their parents, and their bosses. The students have a job too. Our responsibility is to go to school and learn as much as we can. We learn not only academic things, but we also learn how to relate to life and people. Our high school years are the most important years of our lives. At high school we learn the things we will need to know in order to work the rest of our lives. ln order to work for Woodruff we must always talk up our school and respect it. X 5 , I i Z K S Zi E 1 WT ,X ,f SUPPORT AT WOODRUFF Supporting our school is very important. We should take part in our pep assemblies, bake sales, and even wear Woodruff T-shirts and buttons. Take pride in your school. Show your fellow classmates enthusiasm about all activities. Cheer at the games, stand up to the Cherokee and Loyalty songs, and stand up for the other schooI's Loyalty song. Show respect to the other teams and let Woodruff set an example by our good sportsmanship and spirit. M. N , i WM gwfgg Q sw J ,912 , ,gr 31,5 QM I Q, QQ 3,5 .gi : if f:-,KW f ,Q ffw, 6 . What do you want to do with your life? These questions are what you go to school to answer. By the time you have finished Kinder- garden, 8 years of grade school, and 4 years of high school these questions should be a little clearer in your mind. Maybe not answered, but a little closer to a decision. By the time you leave through the front doors of WHS for the last time you may be a little older than when you came, a little taller, fatter or skinnier, a little more mature, but you'll be a lot wiser, and you'll know why everybody needs an education. 14 SPIRIT AT WOODRUFF ln order to be a good school we must have spirit. To have spirit is to cheer at the games, and encourage the players by not criticizing them when they make a mistake, attend all the special events our school puts on, and when we have pep assemblies, be loud and full of pep lbut not routyl, and the most important thing is to take pride in our school and respect it. Take an active part in all the great clubs Woodruff has to offer and remember, this is your school and some of your best years will be spent here. Y E 3 .milf DEDICATION Nlrs. Lee Anderson has been at Woodruff eight years. During these years she has worked from Sophomore counselor to head counselor. She dedicates most of her time to counseling students, but does find some time to sponsor the National Honor Society. When in need, whether you're a student, teacher, parent, or another counselor, lVlrs. Anderson is always there. Although she is only assigned to students with the last name beginning with F-K, but she is willing to help everyone. 2 3 um as gsm: 5914 W oi X M. i5WKnffmm W' Qu 1 ,,,4 ,ff A 3 1 . . Qs , sf sg.. '1-.., Chris Rondon and Cathy Farquhar Until a few months ago, I was living a relatively quiet life in Chile. By attending an all girl school, participating in a theater group and two choirs, I had much satisfaction. I also enjoyed sports such as volley ball, swimming and traveling with my family through Chile. In the summer, I work in camp with the AFS group. I didn't have a fixed objective, but a desire to some day leave my country, see new horizons and customs of another country. The solution: apply for an AFS Scholarship! And now here I am in Peoria living with the Morgan family. Life is so different here, but I love it and all the new things: the school, teachers, friends, subjects, sports, weather and food! I really hope that I will adapt and become a real American girl. The months of July and August 1974 made more difference in my life than all my previous summers put together. I spent 68 fabulous days with the American Field Service in what I now consider my second country, France. The month of August I spent with the Robert Pluchet family in their country home, 50 kilometers southeast of Paris. I found the French to be, contrary to popular opinion, warm and very hospitable. I had a great summer in a fantastic country, France. WWW 'VXL SS ' E i T Q51 . Q! KEY CLUB: Row 1: C. Hartseil, C. Keele, K. Jeurjens, T. Trefzger, Fl. Schaeffer, D.West, M. Adkins, K. Post, M. Through her enthusiasm and en- couragement our class has had four very successful years. She has devoted many extra hours before and after school help- ing us initiate or carry through such projects as choosing our class rings, prac- ticing for stunt shows, and getting ready for graduation. Now as Miss Blackburn finishes her last year at Woodruff High School, our class wishes to acknowledge our indebt- edness to her and to extend our thanks for the many years of teaching and coun- seling that she has given to Woodruff. Thank you, Miss Blackburn, for the time and effort you used to make our four years at Woodruff memorable. The Sopho- mores started the year off by winning the stunt show competition with their stunt titled Robin Woody of Ruffwood For- rest. Many Sophs were busy throughout September and part of October putting together their winning show. ln December the class of '77 held its second annual candle sale. By the 20th of Dec. the class members had sold nearly 400 candles. Another activity sponsored by the class was the Heart-O-Gram sale. Again this year many students purchased a Heart-O-Gram that was sent to the per- son of their choice. Heart-O-Grams prove to be a fun project. Last but not least, were the class rings. This year's Sopho- more class broke the tradition of receiv- ing the rings during the Junior year. The class ring committee set up the ordering and delivery of rings to the class before the closing of school in June. Each ring owner will now have his ring for a full two years before graduation. At that time the freshmen were going to learn who was boss the hard way. They started their four years at Woodruff the right way by electing: Jeff Phillips, President, Kelly Miller, Vice- President. During homecoming week the fresh- men class didn't do the yelling and shout- ing they should have done to win a part of spirit week. They did get second place in the poster contest. The next three years will be much better. The freshmen class sponsored a car wash, and a bake sale. There's a lot more to be and they are going to do it. H. l 5 I l 4 --W-35 'TD' vw vr s , , X ACKNOWLEDGEIVIENT l would like to express my appreciation to many people for helping in getting the 1975 TALlSlVlAN put together. Our representative from Newsfoto Yearbooks is lVlr. Bill Mullins and he is responsible for seeing that the printers got the pages. The credit for the drawing on the cover goes to Jim Strode. Our photography com- pany was American this year and I would like to thank them. Danny Randolph did an excellent job with his photography staff, and lvora Rudd and Cindy Stanley were the only full time workers besides myself. Without Cindy as my right hand l couldn't have done it. Miss Cheris Siddall advised us for the second year, and I would like to thank her. Now here's your yearbook, l hope you enjoy it and thank you.
