The Wildcat Cross Country Team be- gan practice in August with tremendous enthusiasm and high hopes for another great season. Seven returning veterans and seven rookies were led by Co-captains Bill Kenney and Tom Liedke. All ran well despite the injuries of key people, giving a record of 5-10. Because of the injuries of Co-captain Tom Liedke, Mike Pellerin. Geoff Green, and Marty Dreaher, all of whom were out for part of the reason, and Larry Liedke, who was lost for the entire season, many first year runners ran against stiff compe- tition. Great promise was shown by sopho- more Jeff Priest and freshman Steve Ro- bles, who rapidly became the fourth and fifth best men on the team. Better moments in the season came when Bill Kenney and Tom Liedke were tied for first at Eli Whitney and when Bill Kenney beat Coginchaug’s best by fifteen seconds. Special thanks to the cheerleaders and majorettes for their fine enthusiasm and helpful support. The team plans to work even harder next year under the strong leadership ex- pected under Co-captains Geoffrey Green and Matthew Hejna. ROW I: Kim iVtays. Miss Phillips, Anne Smith. ROW 2: Carol Burr, Diane Atkinson, Lisa Helfant. ROW 3: Carla Otfinoski, Sally Shooshan. ROW4: Liesc Meyers.
