Following the path of our now familiar wonderland, we eagerly anticipated becoming seniors. We had now passed that grinning Cheshire cat, which fondly recalled to mind the confusion of being underclassmen; no longer were we fazed by Latin declensions and geometry theorems. The question was To be, or not to be? Our Senior Class officers Stanton Murphy, president; Dave Kaufman, vice- president; Kathy Grockowski, secretary; John Woollacott, treasurer; and Russ Cres- cimanno, representative to Student Council, helped direct us through the maze, disregarding the fog of financial problems. We settled down to relax. We had at last reached the highest spot in the forest. Eugene Haggerty was president of Student Association, Jeannette Bacon, secretary; Bob Griswold, director of Advisory Board; and Art Myjak, director of Student Council. Kathy Grockowski was chairman of Scholarship Committee, while Donna Haight directed Assembly Committee. Stanton Murphy and Howard Child were co-captains of Service Squad. Advisory Board members were Alan Heinrich, Dave Schilke, Carol Borowicz, Mike Golenski, Ellie Weitzman, and Sharon Brazos. National Honor Society officers were elected, with Joan Kowal as president; Gail Gauthier, vice-president; Karen Laverty, secretary; Howard Child, treasurer; and Maria Annino, representative to Student Council. Senior members were Terry Adler, Judy Cameron, Donna Dickes, Mary Dunleavy, Caroline Epstein, Rich Feitel, Kathy Gallagher, Bob Griswold, Kathy Grockowski, Donna Haight, Holly McPhee, Mary Milardo, Art Myjak, Freida Novis, Pat Reed, Eugene Schreiner, E ave Schilke, and Ellie Weitzman. Howard Child was announced as a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship com- petition and both Eugene Schreiner and Normand Manning received letters of com- mendation. Katherine Grockowski received the D. A. R. Good Citizenship Award, while Terry Adler received the Betty Crocker Homemaker of the Year Award. Various other honors were bestowed upon seniors. Sue Gemeinhardt was president of French Club; Kathy Gallagher was president of Latin Club; John Wollacott was president of Spanish Club, Denny Perruccio was president of Audio-Vision Club; John Young was president of the Future Farmers of America; Ellie Weitzman was editor- in-chief of the Margray, with Terry Adler as managing editor. Sue Gemeinhardt and Joan Kowal were editors-in-chief of the Saga, with Stanton Murphy as business manager. Music assemblies were a great source of enjoyment at Wilson. Ann Milardo was president of Girls' Chorus and Joseph Giuffrida was captain of the Band. Luella Daniels received a first rating at the New England Solo, Ensemble Music Festival. The Melo- dees also received gold medals. Luella Daniels and Mike Staub were in the All New England Orchestra, and Maria Annino, Linda DiMauro, Marcia Duval, Pat Reed, Judy Mokowski, Joan Kowal and Sal Tuccio and Sherry Beckley attended as part of the All New England Chorus. Susan Barce was president of the Girls' Sports Club. Freida Novis was head Majorette and Sue Birdsey assistant-head; Lucille Milano and Judy Solito were captain and co-captain respectively of the cheerleaders. The Pep Club, for the first time, took an active part in athletics at Wilson with Donna Haight as president., In our senior year we achieved tremendous acclaim in athletics. Our football co- captains, Bob Griswold and Vin Bonvino, basketball captain, Norm Way, baseball captains, Alan Heinrich and Norm Way, cross-country captain, Hayden Turner, soccer captain, Eugene Schreiner, and track co-captains, Rich Feitel and Bob Dusza led us to victory in each encounter with M. H. S. Vin Bonvino played on the All-State football team. On April 20, the senior class sponsored a fashion show at the Junior High School with Caroline Epstein as chairman. This event, along with our senior picnic on June 19, was successfully carried out through the expert helpful guidance of our advisors; Miss Facius, Mr. Straub, Mr. Ackerley, Mrs. Dunlap, Mrs. Masterson, and Dr. Cham- pagne. On June 2, with Rich Feitel and Bill Griffin as chairmen, we held our Senior Ball. As we sang the Alma Mater, we realized how little time we had left at Wilson. Although we had been hurrying for four years, we were not late for that very important date on June 21, Graduation Day. As we walked down the aisle to receive our diplomas, we paused to say good-bye to the past at Wilson and hello to the uncertain future. 11
