To Graduates in the Gass of 1961: To Graduates in the Class of 1961: It appears to me that the differences between peoples can be best reconciled not so much by the use of material resources as by the use of human resources. If this thought is correct, there then is an im- plication for the kind of educational background by the people who will negotiate these differences as well as for those for whom the negotiations are be- ing made and who, too, must have an understanding of the complexities involved. It further appears to me that these negotiations will be extended over a long period of time before a solution is found to these differences. The length of this time will be such that boys and girls like yourselves might well have time to grow into men and women and become directly involved in the discussions. I think it behooves each of you to so prepare yourselves educationally that you may make your con- tribution to these efforts to stabilize world conditions in order that the way of life which has offered you so much will continue for those who are yet to come. Sincerely, CHAUNCEY J. COPELAND, Principal Woodrow Wilson Senior High School The four years have been a most important pe- riod of growth and development for you. Under the guidance of your teachers and parents you have had opportunity to explore many fields of learning, to discover your interests and abilities, to gain profi- ciency in certain skills, and to understand the com- munity and the world in which you live. You have progressed, during these years, from carefree child- hood to the threshold of responsible adulthood. Although one significant period of your life is coming to a close, your graduation from high school marks the beginning of new and greater opportuni- ties. Your accomplishments of the past will serve as a foundation upon which to build higher, what- ever your plans for the future may be. Congratulations to you and best wishes for con- tinued success. Yours sincerely, EDWARD B. FILLBACK Superintendent of Schools
