To our sponsor, Mrs. Bryce, and all the senior class officers and representatives, we owe a great deal of appreciation for their excellent leadership. Through our work on committees such as Senior Day, Senior Trip, Senior Gift and others, we have accomplished our main goal: To set forth an image of which we can be proud of, and one in which the students can respect. For all of these reasons, it is obvious that our theme stands true: THERE IS NO BETTER PLACE TO BE, THAN WITH THE CLASS OF ’83. The program of the department is flexible enough to meet the varying interests and abilities of the individual business student, yet rigid enough to provide a challenge and a measure of accomplishment towards which all business stu- dents may strive. Methods of instruction are related to current ideas of learning processes by a willingness of our department teachers to keep abreast of new techniques and new theories. The needs of the business student are met through clerical, typewriting, stenography and recordkeeping accounting. Curriculum and course content are continuously reflected in the business department. Three returning district and regional qualifiers from the previous year were unable to compete in all meets reducing the team to a junior varsity squad for four eighth graders and a junior, Shelly Goldfarb. For the first year since Wilson en- tered in competition, they did not have anyone qualified for regionals. Hopefully, the support and dedica- tion of the eighth graders will posi- tively affect the next years. Right: Tracy Allen finishes a floor routine in the meet against Churchland. Starting with a 6-4 victory over Norcom, the next games the Presidents were knocked by a loss to Church- land, Cradock, but rallied to beat Green Run 13-11. Overall record for the season was 4-10. As Coach McGinley puts it “the season was a disappointment, however the fact that the ma- jority of the team were under- classmen shows promise for next season.” The team was not without standouts, Mark Matthews made All Metro, Best Batting average 303. Regina Hawkins tied a record for the long jump with a distance of 16 feet five inches. She also took first in the high jump and third in the 100 me- ter run and second in the 100 meter hurdles. At the district meet Hawkins moved to the fore front again winning first place in the high jump and ty- ing the hurdles record.
