VVe are all proud of our victory over our chief rival, Maury, by a score of I6-6. This marks the first victory that VVilson has scored on Maury since 1931. On this date Clarence Ace,' Parker and Booty Garner sparked the attack. This season the Presidents held the Granby Comets to a 7-2 score in favor of the Norfolk team. on Thanksgiving Day the Granby Eleven journed to the Municipal Stadium to be held in their won territory three quarters of the game, only to come back in the last minutes to tally for a touchdown. In the first game of the season, the Prexies whipped South Norfolk 21 to 0. The Hopewell Blue Devils came to Portsmouth with a team at least ten pounds a man heavier than that of VVilson's and edged out the Presidents 13-6 with a superior passing attack. Wilson travelled to Roanoke to have the Magicians whip them 28-6. Renewing their rivalry with the Newport News Team after a lapse ofa year, the Presidents scored a 26-0 victory over them with excellent blocking and magnificent running. Wilson witnessed a hard setback when Bill McKenns intercepted one of VVilson's passes and dashed fifty yards for a touchdown for Lynchburg, ending the game 7-0. The VVilson Fleven scored 107 points in comparison to 76 scored by their opponents. The Prexies ended a good season by placing Slade Phillips, Philmore Joyner, Stuart Cushman, and Captain George CBuckl Lawson on the All-Tidewater Team, chosen by the coaches of Tidewater. Phillips was chosen on account of his rushing ability. He gained over eighty per cent of VVilson's yardage this season. Joyner was outstanding on the line. He did a magnificent job of spiralling the pigskin straight and and without mishap to the hard charging backs. Stuart Cushman deserves a berth because of his continuous job of breaking up plays. G0on Lawson rightly won a place on the All-Tidewater be- cause of his ability to break through the enemies' line and to block punts. Phillips and Lawson made All-State, second team, while Joyner made third team. Martin Mc- Laughlin, All-State material for the 1942 season, made honorable mention for his ability as a punter.
