WOODROW WILSON 1856- 1924 TWENTY-EIGHTI-I PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES l9l3 - l92l 2340 S STREET. N.W. WASHINGTON D.C. September ztth 1929 Deer ledam: Ls lrsu-ilson is non in the I-'ar East, I sm answering for her your letter of September seventh, received e few days ago. I am sure that lrs.01lson will be interested to know that the new high school has been named for her husband, and that she will heartily approve my sending the enclosed photograph of Mr.l1lson for the school, in accordance with your suggestion. If the scho Woodrow Wilson, for whom our school was named, was a fighter for all that is noblest in American tradition. His weapons were a powerful intellect, a golden eloquence, a determined will and a purity of character which noth- ing could corrupt-not power, not glory, not bitter disappointment. Faith was the essence of the man: faith in God, faith in the people, faith in democratic institutions. It is this faith which endures, surviving the man who possessed it, his age, his world, his language. In his life are found lessons, examples, and inspiration for today and tomorrow. Ennobled by WiIson's idealism, we wish to dedicate, on the centenary of his birth, our annual to his memory and our lives to the realization of his ideals. 3 I I II l ll I VI 1 Ill!! Its chief objectives are to interest students in personal and community health, to learn what nursing requires and offers, and to help the student to decide wisely about professional nursing as a career. Girls who are either iuniors or seniors in high school are eligible to goin the club, prOv1d6d fll9Y are 'Vlfe'95fed in nursing, like people, are responsible and trustworthy. The meetings are held once a month at the Stambaugh Nurses Home. These meetings generally consist of professional speakers in the varied fields of nursing, a tour of the South Side and North Side Nurses' l'lOrn9S and Hospitals, a get-acquainted tea, and movies on the field of nursing. An overnight stay in the club is offered to senior girls to provide them with an ins de view of a student rufse's day. lt is well worth anyone's time to spend FNA a day with the student nurses, First Row: Nrs.Vv'altr1o,r Jil: Baoghrran rsata'ie Cohen .ane C-onto -entre Gallarn Alda Llgntpoi, Jud. itzell Kathy Kane Second Row: Mary Pat Nelson, Saily Bill ngs Jack e Acri, Trudy Sharien, Loretta Buday, Mary Helen Charner, :arolyn Mclntyre Third Row: Carolyn Colaprete, Nna Euftone, Jo Ann Dewird Ka, Dyke, Harr.et Wh tcnoan Do'a Kraft, Kathy Pizzoferrato Evelyn Terihay First Row Mi s Berich Rosale Chi rrar Sh rley Andersen Lin'a Johnson Kathy Pizzofer ato Joann Vitacula PrisciI'e Fabry An ta Adco k De ore Campy Mr Yeader Second Row Peggy Dobozy Carol Eadwr k Pegg: McCoy Carol Chain Judy Mo'nar Carole Su N'cl.aJghl n sally Collette Wanda Clark Brenda Clau en Kathy avallaro Third Row Jan ce Kogeln k A ice Zebrow ki Mary Ann Dubiel Trudy McCoy Judy Hetnnan Exa Lugo .Jody Nancy Lesch Jackie Palat nus Myrna Nedvey Bobbie Elgin Joyce Jones Fout'1 Row Joyce Leone Dorothy Palguta Helen Prelog Melissa Radovich Judy Toth Judy Nelson Virginia Sandusky Adeline Marinelli Joanne Pa quae Evelyn Ortsey Fifth Row Marcia Sabol Frances Haralarnbie Carol Turner Lynn Botsco Jackie Acri Sandy Lisko Barbara Koeth Marilyn Danchi e Anna Na ie Tekac Delores Rehovick Mary Ann Kalinka TA The F T A has had a Wilson branch for only four years lt gives students the opportunity to visit classrooms and grade schools while the teachers attend meetings and workshops This enables the students to learn first hand what teaching is like The senior girls who had this opportunity were Pegg: McCoy Kindergarten at Bennett Sally Collette Marcia Sabol and Kathy Pizzoferrato-First Grade at Jackson Linda Johnson Second Grade at Jackson Carole Turner and Adeline Marinelli Third Grade at Jackson Joanne Vitacula Fourth Grade at Bancroft Shirley Andersen Fourth Grade at Jackson Carol Chain and Judy Molnar had the handicapped children at Bennett Joanne Pasquale-Sight Saving class at Adams ln addition there were regular meetings at school where Muss Alma Klnngler and Miss Arveta Weber told of their experiences while teaching in France and Germany 39 I I xv 7 ,Q ,,'L , 3 X J . Opening the season against Chaney, the team as a whole did a tre- mendous job both on offense and defense. In the first half, Wilson broke into the scoring column when Kenny Miglitz went over the goal line for two touchdowns. Richard Balog converted for the extra points. Near the end of the season in a game against Ursuline, they were surprised to see the spread formation which had never been played against them before. Jim Menigham, Jim Calabria, and John Susor were outstand- ing in this game. Thanks to Mr. Hardy, Mr. Thompson, Mr. Friend, and Mr, Nudo for their hard work with the team. 53 PRESIDENTS IN ACTION ON THE GRIDIRON FOOTBALL HOMECCMING King: Richard Balog Queen: Judy Zbell FOOTBALL HOMECOMING COURT Nancy WhuTe Don Trotter Cynthua Evans Bob DeLong Judy Molnar John Susor Mary Ann Spezuale Chuck Vogrun Kathy Puzzoferrato George Srnolko Judy Zbell Carol Chaun Bernue Hamrock Luvua Gurardu Gerald .aarcher Fran Sablyak Kenny Mugletz Shurley Ranklun Bob Carussumo After many weeks of hard work and careful plannung on the part of Student Councul and uts socual commuttee the tume had funally arruved' The butter cold eyenung of November lO l956 brought wuth ut Wulsons Gala Football l-lomecomung Soon the thrullung game between Wulson and South began wuth our own Duck Ruley announcung each play Before you knew ut half tume entertaunment was about to begun Furst sunce ut was also parents nught the players and theur proud parents were rntroduced the mothers all wearung beautuful whute mums guyen to them by the Councul Next came the ten senuor gurls un the royal court takung what seemed to be an everlastung walk tO the center of the fueld After a few suspenseful moments last years queen Jeanne Evans crowned Judy Zbell as the l9S6 Queen of Football After the crownung the ueen and her court entered the wautung convertubles and made theur way to Krakusy Ballroom where the l-lomecomung Dance was held and where the l956 Kung of Football would be crowned Suspense mounted Who out of the ten senuor players would be crowned?
