A ter Twenty Frye Years DOWN Tl-lE RIVER OE GOLDEN DREAMS Aboard the good ship Wrlson One mornlng In early September l came on deck as captain In 28 as l remember My sturdy mates the teachers The students o merry crew The good shnp Woodrow Wilson Was seaworthy and new To the colors the bugle sounded And out on the seas of tlme Was launched the Woodrow Wllson Wnth o loyal pledge subllme Our problems were abundant As we flrst began the tnp Carpenters and plumbers Seemed to be all o er the shlp For oudltorlum cafeterla and sux rooms Both tables and chairs dad we lock And folding doors were needed At the boys gym rn the back To elementary pupnls We ossugned sux classrooms here However these self same students Went to Bennett the second year Two rooms we had devoted To pre tuberculars for fresh anr They came to school ln Esklmo suuts And here recenved good care All together we were nlne hundred As we headed out that year Looknng back l recall at now As the begnnnlngs of memories dear Buffetlng bravely heavy seas We hut durnng the depressnon Then thunderous seas of war Dad llttle our dangers lessen Hundreds of our boys were called lnto service their country to save And thirty we were growlng At the seams about to burst And In 39 presented ennors Who graduated as our furst Shops home economics And laboratories too Two years later were added And thus our good ship grew So year after year we have grown Untrl now In thus twenty 'nfth year Another addltuon IS started As we move ahead full gear Alteratrons In the old bulldlng And a block of twelve rooms we wnll a Including a brand new gymnasium For whlch all the mates wlll be glad Thus IS the history of Wilson One of growth and expansion we see We go forward the needs to meet Of a growlng cornmunuty A great many of our present students Are the chlldren daughters and sons Of those who twenty five years ago On the Wulson had manned the guns The fame of our school has grown also And for :ts fnne spurut IS known And the excellent personalltnes Of nts sons and daughters has shown The service our ship has rendered thousands who students have been Never can be fully estumated By them now women and men Now to future generatnons We deslre a servrce to be So to the masthead we ll nanl thus motto Where all may be able to see Hats oft to a splendld post coats off to create a stall more glorious future GEORGE W GLASGOW Poetlcally arranged by Beverly Collette 4 ll ll eight gave their lives . . , Hats off to these loyal and brave . . .
