Mrs. Emily Muldoon On a morning, several years ago, Emily Muldoon came into my office and laid a bank deposit book on my desk saying, There goes every cent I have in the world. The bank had closed its doors. She brushed away a tear and in a matter of seconds was smiling again. We talked as very close friends sometimes do, of some of the deeper meanings of life; and she made this statement, Nothing in life that comes from the outside can hurt you; things might bring disappoint- ment, discomfort, and even pain, but if they come from outside, they can never really hurt. It is only the things that come from within that are deadly. Things that come from within one ' s own heart — - envy, jealousy, hate, greed, and malice. These hurt and kill. Upon this philosophy, Emily Muldoon built her life. She lived it and by her example influenced others to believe in it. We know now that she was in her classroom when she was in pain; we know now that she carried on for her Wilson boys and girls when she knew that death was closing in upon her. Still with her cheery greeting, smiling countenance, and kindly word, she will live long in the memories of Wilson men and women. GEORGE W.
