( neeti t to Ti aacOiacu ' ZOti cK Studentd These are stirring times in which we live. The even flow of a settled and ordered life has been upset, our plans disrupted and our minds bewildered. We see the things that we have heretofore taken for granted —the blessings of liberty of speech, liberty of worship, and the freedom to choose our own way in the pursuit of happiness, take on a new meaning. They are threatened and even life, itself, is not so valuable as they. We Americans are finding ourselves again. We are meeting the challenge to our free institutions, on home and battle front. There are tasks to do and sacrifices to make for all of us. Instead of shrinking from the demands of this hour, let us meet them head up, with all we have, and we shall feel the glorious lift and spiritual surge that comes from doing our best for a patriotic and righteous cause. GEO. W. GLASGOW, Principal. • ( Page Four 1

Occi SufrenlfttcHctetit At the close of his second year as Superintendent of the Youngstown Public Schools, George A. Bowman has earned a definite place in the community life for notable achievements in his chosen work. A believer in the three dimensional— culture of body, mind, and spirit, Mr. Bowman goes alertly, seemingly effortlessly, on his way, adjusting the curricula of elementary and secondary schools to meet the needs of war time demands. Wilson stands at salute to Superintendent Bowman. • { Page Five
