WILSON COURSES The courses in the various departments of Wilson, whose faculty is pictured on these foregoing pages, are being gradually adjusted to national directives; rapidly in some cases, more slowly in others. No group of citizens bears a more serious responsibility than the men and women charged with guiding the growth of boys and girls. Failure to meet their present needs will mean grave difficulties in the days that lie ahead. At Wilson, as elsewhere, special courses are being added, and changed em- phasis made in regular subjects. Homeroom teachers and class- room teachers, alike, at Wilson, are counseled to grasp every occasion to give a wider scope to student activities, that they may include social, moral, and character aspects, along with mental and physical hygiene. Students are made to feel, at Wilson, that the curriculum that they are pursuing is a stable one, and that it will serve as a security to build other securities. During these times, pupils need a school whose faculty they may turn to in confidence, for a solution of their adolescent problems. This is being done through the daily class sessions, the extra curricular activities of clubs, and the personal guidance of a calm and friendly teacher who will help and direct, when sensitive, impressionable, and more or less emotionally unstable students are in need of aid. Hence, the main endeavor, at Wilson, is to carry on a regular normal school program through the period of disturbing elements engendered by a world at war. H«( Page Twelve
