9 CONSTRUCTION' What wonderful progress has been made In this field since Mr Athlro G Paris: arrived at Wilson The auditorium rs well on its way toward completion the three new shops are proc trcally finished and the new quadrangle with the beautiful curving walks trees and grass is a reality There is a continual noise but It sounds wonderful to the ear as we dream of engoymg the new fa cllltres Eighteen years ago Wilson looked rather different The school opened in 1937 and was more like a CCC camp The original Farmdale Grammar School and some bungalows were the first burldmgs Grad ually the shops and cafeteria were added In 1939 one of the city s finest athletic fields was built and named after Mr Angus Cavanaugh the first prm ctpal During Christmas vacation of 1940 the Ad mmrstratron bualdrng was finished and given to the community One year later the Boy s Gym was com pleted Work again started in 1947 on the new Science Home Economics and Commercial buildings In 1955 the bungalows were moved to a new Ioca tion and the present program to make Wilson a complete school was put into effect Plans for the future include cr Girls Athletlc Field combination tenms and outdoor basketball courts scheduled far completion within the coming year and eventually a covered pavilion for eating a new Boys Gym and a iunior high school building. Construction! She is a wonderful person and all of us have missed her. We all await her return. Mr. Harold Cooper, our senior counselor, heads one of the finest counsel-organizations in the city. He is always ready to assist stu- dents toward their goal. Mrs. Peggy Whittle, lleftl has been our acting Girls' Vice-Principal, and she is do- ing a great iob. When Mrs. Whittle is not acting Vice-Principal she is a Senior A Sponsor and chairman ofthe Social Studies Department. 'triad Mr. Paul G. Barthel, our new Registrar is in charge of student attendance, tardiness and truancy. Mrs. Verna Eversmeyer, our iunior high school counselor, is a very busy person working with seventh and eighth graders and sponsor- ing Junior Scholarship. Mr. Clarence Currin, our work c positions suitable for them.
