Because she helped today's youth with her advice, counsel and leadership, she has played an important part in tomorrow's future through Wilson students. To quote from the dedication to her in the '51 Hoofprints- A Tribute to you, Miss Florence Seaman, for the never ending love you have shown for Wilson, for your endurance with our problems . . . Most important of all . . . is a principal the students can depend on, a principal who is always on the lookout to safeguard her school. As a climax to her career, as Miss Seaman leaves us her long-time plans are being consumated-a new shop building, an auditorium, and a landscaped quadrangle for students to enioy and appreciate. Best wishes for her future to Wilson's devoted administrator. BELOW lfrom left to rightl: Miss Seaman louoks over a Christmas proiect ' Smiling, our principal starts another eventful day at Wilson High ' The Class of S'55 adopt their fellow graduate as an honorary member of the class ' All dressed up and ready to meet the students parents ' Enioying herself at the Senior Tea, Miss Seaman makes everyone feel at ease ' Plans for the new campus are among Miss Seaman's accom- plishments. .1-. 4 kj 1,4 ,'s- .. It belongs to Mrs. Jean Gillette, who serves our student body in her capable, understanding manner. Her fine work as iunior counselor for Wilson added to her promotion. The Board of Commissioners has the respon- sibility of many different iobs in the school, such as getting out schedules for athletic events, posters and bulletins on health and other school activities, keeping the grounds clean, and helping to conduct fire and bomb drills. The Board has many other iobs so it is divided into eight commissions. The com- missioners had fun carrying out these dif- ferent activities while doing a fine iob for the school. Our judges really don't wear robes in court, but while informal, they interpret and en- force the laws of Wilson and keep the students on their toes. The Mules, coached brilliantly by lVlr. Bill Samarin, went undefeated through their first seven games before losing to Los Angeles High in the first round of the City playoffs. Wilson had entered the playoffs for the first time, thanks to a lucky draw which sent the Mules to the finals as the North- ern League's runner-up. Only ties with Franklin, 0-0, and loop titlist Lincoln, 13-13, kept the Wilsonites from their first undisputed league grid championship. The team's brilliance was attested by the selection of five Nlules on the all-league team and two on the All-City team. Garcia, Hardy, Rivera, Chapman, Rashoff, Goldman CMgr.I. L I E The keynote in Wilson basketball for 1955 was new faces, both in players and in the coaching department. All but one member of the l954 varsity squad had graduated, and the coach had also departed. The new mentor, Mr. Gordon IBudI Naslund, steered his inexperienced crew to a four win-six loss record and a fourth place loop finish. Vic Diamond, the lone returned monogrammer, sparked the sophomore-iunior packed lineup by scoring a total of l35 points in I0 league games. He was named to the leogue's second team.
