But you live. For you built not in wood but in boys, in their hopes and plans, their little tables and shelves and qifts for Mothers' Day, their foibles and frailties, their days, their hearts. They were your friends, you their comrade, your qoinq their deep loss. They will not forget you, these loyal friends of yours. For you built in them: you built in boys. You built in men and women, your companions here at work, comrades-in-arms in the fiqht for youth, its rectitude, the fulfillment of its promise and hope, its place in the world to come. You built in our school, from the days of its beqinninq. You live in what it is, in all that it may be. We say not qood-bye to you, for you live. You live in what you have built with us, in that which cannot die. Adios, Bill Edwards, true comrade. By Mary Powelll Anderson Mr Edward Williams Edwards ln pride, companionship, and honor, we devote this small page in our memories to those l8 boys ot our class now serving our country in Navy Blues. Serving their country well on all the bat- tle tronts of the world, these l8 boys will soon be joined by many other members ot our class. Three of these boys, lerry Del-laan, Gor- don Hall, and Tom Middlemore, will receive their diplomas, but in our hearts, each and everyone ot them shall be on the platform with us and receive honors much greater than our little acknowledgements ot mere service to our school. There were many problems to solve and solve them Miss Seaman did, easily and efficiently in her quiet way. lt was no time at all until she had become a well-known figure about the Wilson came V pus. a Another fine administrator entered W'ilson this S last year in the person of Miss Leadingham, Girls' H ' - ' Vice-Principal. With her gracious manner she quickly 5 ' Q, - became the friend of every girl in the school. Plan- . ning the social calendar and counseling for the girls . H-A were but two of her duties. ' Ever-popular Mr. Clark, Boys' Vice-Principal, con- ' - ' ' ', tinues on in his role of chief problem-solver for the boys. Sincere and thoughtful, he is admired by all - x lt who know him. We couldn't have succeeded in our many senior activities without the help and guidance of our class sponsors, Mrs. Brooks, Miss Winford, and Mr. Berger. They were always willing to give their time and energy in doing all they could to steer us right. To them, we say simply, 'l'hanks! To the Graduates of S '44: ' You are graduating at a most critical time in the wcrld's history. Your plans for the future cannot be made and anticipated as readily as in normal times, but when these difficult days are over you will return to a pattern of life for which your high school days have laid a foundation. Days of service on the war and home front will again become normal days in a new kind of world however, due to the marvelous inventions and new ideals given birth during these War years. The World needs desperately the leadership America can give in tolerance, brotherly love, security and the four freedoms. May the fine things which have been America and which we can now give to a war- sick world, not perish! Yours is the challenge! May you-the sons and daughters of Wilson lead as we turn swords to plough shares 'hates to lovefwar to peace. FLORENCE I. SEAMAN, Principal. Peggy Milnor, Pat Dean, Eleanore Pickles Hines, and Ethel Kamienny are the three-star let- tergirls, with Eleanor Dickens, two-star lettergirl, missing her third star because oi her appendix. m the gongs oil heretv Social Events have been limited this past year at Wilson, but regardless we have gathered many members. Our picnic was a complete success, as was the potato salad, hot dogs, and punch. Color Day for the Sheiks will long be remembered and exclaimed over in such words as glamorous, picturesque, romantic, colorful!! An Indian Forest sur- rounded our dance floor for the prom we sponsored. As guests at its sequel this semester, we spent an evening to be long remembered. At our senior tea and breakfast, food was secondary to the class spirit that reigned. s 'IHE TIME OF YOUR LIFE'-thats what we had in our senior year at Vlfilson: above fun at the picnic, Ah-h-h-h-h, lust posin', Pioughin' 'em up, Loafing, Batterup, Camera shy, Aain't it grand.
