Curious to know who our teachers would be, and to acquaint ourselves with the routine which we were to follow, we welcomed the first class meeting. It was held September 29, to elect class officers and to learn the campus rules. After a little discussion, we voted for the people whom we thought were most capable of leading us, The following were chosen: Glenn Webb, president, M. R. Jennings, vicefpresidentg Mary C. Dickenson, secretary, john Fisher, treasurer. Mr. C. G. Peregoy, principal, appointed Miss Caroline Lindsey, sponsor. On january 9, 1936, a meeting was held to discuss plans for the Sophomore Colonial Ball, which was given February 22, 1936. This party, with its beautif fully gowned oldffashioned ladies and its bewigged gentlemen in knee breeches, was very successful Cfor Sophomoresj. K So passed our first year in Woodrow Wilson High School. CHAPTER II September 8, 1936, saw school open again. As it was only our second year in high school, we were still a little tense and curious. On October 28, we held a meeting to elect our new officers. The following results will show that we made few changes in leadership: Glenn Webb, president, Gladys Lawrence Thompson, vicefpresidentg Mary C. Dickenson, secretary, Melvin Wood, treasurer, Gene Warden, sergeantfatfarms. Miss Caroline Lindsey was again appointed as sponsor. As Juniors, under the skillful direction of Mrs. Roy D. Milliron Cwhom we shall never forgetj, assisted by Miss Garnett Hundley, we presented the drama' tization, Thru the Keyhole. It played to an enthusiastic audience for a matinee and evening performance, and netted sufficient funds to finance the JuniorfSenior Prom. With no further outstanding occurrences during the year, we closed this second chapter of the history of the Class of '38, rr 1938 ff n SENIOR ECHO - CHAPTERHI Seniors at last! With all fear, suspense, curiosity, envy, and tensity gone, we started to school again on September 7, 1937. On September 14, a meeting was held for the purpose of electing class ofhcers. After the ballots were counted, the follow- ing emerged victorious: Glenn Webb, president-for the third successive term, Paul Higginbotham, vicefpresidentg Mary C. Dickenson, secretary -Afor the third successive term, also, Alma jo Vannoy, treasurer, John Smith, sergeant' atfarms. On November 20, Miss Clela Casto was elected Miss Flying Eagle for one of the swellest football teams ever to trod the athletic field of W. W. H. S. She was attended by Miss Marjorie Cornwell and Miss Nancy Ballengee. These girls served in regal style at the Hinton game, and, also, at the Senior Football Party, on December 3. Another honor, which we take pride in relating, is the participationand sensaf ,tional playing of two of our members, joe Davies and Stanley Huffman, in the NorthfSouth Football Game. Among the other activities of our Senior year were the Senior Play, which was given April 14, 1938, and the JuniorfSenior Prom, May 7, 1938. Of course, being guests at the prom, we were free from responsibility and well entertained. So, with memories which are endeared to all of us Cwe hopel, we close the pages of our immemorial history as the Class of '38 in Woodrow Wilson High School. Our graduation sends us out to struggle on the sea of life. Though it may bear us far, we hope we are prepared to face our duties as worthy citizens of our state and nation.
