The Woodrow Wilson Wildcats commenced the preseason slowly but with promise. In the first preseason game Aaron Boulton kicked a 27-yard field goal to give the Cats a 3-0 lead against North Garland. Then Clark Hood scored the only Wildcat touchdown making the score 7-9. Woodrow played a well fought game but the resulting score was Raiders 21, Wildcats 9. Clark Hood takes time out to quench his thirst. 141 THE TOTAL WILDCAT During an observation of the Woodrow Wilson football game against Skyline and HiMerest, the Crusader photographer decided to try to discover the feelings of the players who were not on the field by catching them off guard. It was through this procedure that we became aware of the closeness and deep compassion among teammates. Only once in many times did we catch a Wildcat not paying close attention to the game. We believe that this is the true character of a strong and determined football team. Just behind the sideline, Curtis Hankins sits in deep concern about the outcome of a game between two long-time rivals. Aaron Boulton quenches his thirst before his return to the field. Ervin Pride stands back to observe his teammates in clear view. With arms folded and faces fixed with stern expressions, these Wildcats watch the battle between Skyline and Woodrow. 142 bove all, KEEP THOSE SOCKS JP! Curtis gets caught again. 63 shows us the most common position of a Wildcat on the sideline, while other players direct their attention toward the action. Both of these football games went well for the Wildcats. In the Skyline vs. Wood-row game, Clark Hood scored the first touchdown followed by another one from Ervin Pride. Aaron Boulton made both of the extra points to give Woodrow a score of 14-14 against their rival. The Hillcrest vs. Woodrow game was one in which all of the advantages belonged to the Cats. Clark Hood scored the only touchdown of the game and, after scoring the extra point, Aaron Boulton scored two field goals which determined the 13-0 victory over Hillcrest. As the action begins to build, the decision of whether to sit down or stand up can be difficult. 143 Woodrow's Terry Malone dis plays his unique defensive abili ties. Clark Hood roughs up a T.j. player with Freddie Young as a back up. The Patriots and the Wildcats seem to be attacking anyone in sigh and worrying little about who has the football. 31, fullback, Jerral Kendricks barely escapes a Thomas Jefferso defender. 144 WILDCAT COACHES Charles Hoggard Midwestern Univ.
