W. W. GOES TO THE FAIR “So it's come then, Maidens and men. To the Fair in the pride Of the morning ” The first holiday of the year is High School Day at the State Fair of Texas. This day holds many memories for a Wilsonite. The excitement and bustle is evident as you first enter the gate with so many things to do and sec! The newest thing in cars, the new monorail, the showboats in the lagoon, the Parade of Presidents in the museum, and—the Midway! “Corny dogs,’' cotton candy, hamburgers, candied apples, iced cold drinks present a problem—how to eat them all and not get sick! The din of the barkers and ticket sellers; the milling crowd, “Hey, watch it, buddy! I only got two toes left,” and the brilliant color flaunted by signboards, balloons and students alike will always remain a vivid picture of High School Day. Top picture: Its nice to have a man around, such as Don Jones, to hold purses and belongings while you ride the rides at the Fair. The Woodrow girls arc Betty Maxon and Joan Presley. There are rides, rides, and more rides at the Fair, as Nancy Norris, Sue Sandel, Dorothy Schultz, Virginia Mason and Ellen Haraway will testify, as they prepare to board the “Koundup.
