ANYONE FOR CROWDS Traffic jams are bound to happen in a school with an enrollment of 2400: long lines waiting for football tickets, newspapers, bus cards: no available seats in assembly: and classes filled to capacity. And there is all this at Wood-row. But in spite of crowded conditions, students have learned to reply proudly to unbelieving questioners, “Yes, Woodrow is the largest school in Dallas.” The hotter the flay, the longer the line. Anne Brooks. Mike Horll. Jimmy Hogue. Dennis Kingwell, and Don Murdock don’t seem to mind the water being slightly warm and salty. The telephone privilege is popular with students at Woodrow as “communicated by Gail Baker, Jerry Moore, Diane Smith, Marian Boyd, and Linda Hill. Standing room only in assembly! But arc those Wildcats above sitting or hanging? These small stadiums are not adequate for Woodrow fans. “Dolls’” sponsor Jean Terry, with her husband, watches the Hillcrest game from the midst of the band and Dolls. 19

MANY ACTIVITIES MAKE A SCHOOL YEAF Ellen Kay’s duty is to greet guests at Open House, hut the ushers take up all her time! The derelict ushers are Van Kobinson. Philip Grubbs. Dan West, and Steve Joyce. Pretty hostesses. Mary Chotas and Sue Zigen-bien, greet incoming guests at Open House; while Coach Don Helms, right, talks with Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Terry. The bride wore brogans and carried a bouquet of dandelions. In this wedding without women John Logan was the bruising bride and Hutch Gurley was the protesting groom. The rites were read by Parson William Leave)!. Other members of the bridal party were varsity football players. History teachers. Bill Lea veil and Melton Owen, look anxious, but they know the hall won’t go in because the basket's been “fixed. They played in the faculty-varsity team basketball game sponsored by the Key Club, which the faculty “won 13-12.

WOODROW CHRISTMAS Is there a Santa Claus? Certainly there is. and one doesn't mean “Santa Leavell. although he is a good one. As long as there is the spirit of generosity and good will, as at Woodrow at Christmas time, one can have faith in the personification of that spirit. Preparation for the holidays is felt many weeks away, as students and teachers look forward to family reunions, brightly colored packages and sumptuous Christmas dinners. Christmas greetings are heard in the halls (even a “Feliz Navidad occasionally I, and carols are sung everywhere—in the band and chorus rooms, the cafeteria. classrooms, and even in the gym dressing rooms. . . and a-WA they of a thistle!” all flew, like the down Pajama-clad Beverly Bennett recites the traditional “A Visit from St. Nicholas ( I was the night before Christmas”) on the Christmas assembly. llmmm . . Lucky Santa! Lucky Glenda Smith tells bun that she wants a six-foot, blue-eyed. black-haired guy for herself. 'I SI . . . And wild and sweet, tin words repeat of peace oi earth, good will to men.” Or the day before the holiday Robert Payne, right, direct; his carolers in singing in tin front hallway in the yearly presentation.
