hat's new? Sophomore yell that's what. 1978 brought back a Wilson sophomore yell squad to cheer on sophomore teams in all their ac- tivities. The squad is not only new, but has its first male yell leader, Ammon Strehlow. The other talented members were: Christy Hart- nell, Linda Inge, Liz Knowlton, Edie Mermel- stien, Denise Ruppert, and Karen Talley. In the words of Miss Karen McGrew, their sponsor, They're a super group. JV yell showed unmatched enthusiasm in everything they did. Cheering on the football and other junior varsity teams in sports and activities were yell leaders: Kelly McDonnell, Robin Irwin, Shari Powell, Millicent Borges, and Mary Quigley. They also marched with the other yell teams inthe Homecoming parade and cheered at the Homecoming Varsity football game, adding all their voices to everything that is Wilson. jv, soph yell bring pride 2Olv!soph yell

We i fee ff,f?5, ,, . . arsity yell has a new look-guys! Dave Mullen and Jim Ruttman added a touch of masculinity and spirit to the '78-'79 squad. Lyle Mas- sey, Brenda Babcock, Keri Flynn, Nichelle Bartell, Lisa l-lartnell and Karen Berry were the other new spastiks that set off a burst of creativity to originate new yells and chants, while the old pros, Laurie Kouzes and Lora Began, kept the group from going bananas. Besides getting football games oh' the ground, varsity yell had enough soul, S-0-U-L for basket- ball, waterpolo, wrestling, gymnastics and every other sport they could lit in, Miss McGrew, four year sponsor of yell, was impressed with their talent. They're a good group to work with . . . very sincere about their work lots of talent. There's never a dull moment with the constant enthusiasm radiated by the group.
