M91 , , N H ,Z ' fi Zn '75 Air' Spring Council attempted to broaden representation The Spring Semester Council, in conducting student body business, attempted to broaden its responsibilities, and acquire for the students of Wilson greater control in the many issues concerning them. Proposals were introduced through the Curriculum Committee to instigate studentfteacher evaluations and install uniform citizenship grading throughout the school. Of primary interest to the council spring semester was the establishment of effective communication and cooperation between the five schools of Long Beach. A first step toward such a goal was realized with a joint meeting of student councils at Millikan High School. It was hoped that, in the future, a stronger union of student governments would allow better student representation on the district level- where school policy ultimately is formed. Communication was also a vital interest of the spring council. The council Newsletter continued regular publication and a Free Expression Board was erected. To encourage the new students to various aspects of student life at Wilson, a special orientation meeting was held. Also, a newly revitalized Club Council published a detailed club directory as well as coordinating the activities of the clubs. above left, Lisa Engelbrecht, Governor of Welfare, Jeannine Connell, Governor of Publicity, and ludy Seal, Recording Secretary, took notes on an important council matter. left, lon Thorpe, Corresponding Secre- tary, and Barbara Budwell, Governor of Fine Arts, are pictured here tak- ing a break from council's busy schedule.
