A deep and respectful bow in the direction of all the wonderful peo- ple of Wilson! A salute to the students and faculty who have made all of us proud of our beloved Woodrow Wilson High School. We think the efforts of everybody connected with Wilson have been successful, and we think recognition is due. Surely the Seniors, now ending their years at Wilson, deserve a Well done. Hats off to them! And what of the underclassmen who have done the work which, in time, will lead them to the proud estate of Seniors? We say, Hats off To the Jun- iors! A salute to the Sophomores! We believe that the purpose of a yearbook is to give recognition to the people and their qualities which have made the year past both successful and pleasant. This book is our way of saying You've done a good iob. You've made Wilson a wonderful school. Gur Hat's off to all of you. 6 Jw' ww X ix E, EEN . ERICKSON Activities Director l The center of Wilson's extra curricular life is the activities office. Here our activities and student calendar are arranged. In the morn- ing this office is the base for all announcements and plans for the day. As busy as Grand Central Station, our activities office is the headquarters for the government class and keeps the files for all Wilson governing bodies. Special meetings are often held in the outer activities office, and our activities desk is the center for all information concerning Scholarship, Girls' League and Club activ- ities. Many are the people coming in and out throughout the day to view the Social Club Bulletin Board. Here, announcements are posted concerning the present and future plans of the Social Clubs. This office, under the able guidance of Mr. Ericson, is the hub in the Wheel of Wilson Life. Varied Social Life Sfems Here CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL fm MRS. BOYLES MRS. The or- chestra vvas most highly honored when twenty-two of its mem- bers vvere selected in a district wide competition to play in an all- district orchestra. The band, in its work at football games, pep rallies, basketball games, and in the traditional spring concert, has again shown that Wilson music is the best. Hats oft for a job well done! SP ECONOMICS U.S.8rG SOCIAL LIVING Learning about democracy, history and social problems are all a part of these three different classes presented throughout a student's term at Wilson. Social Living includes the study of governments in different countries and of their leaders. As the days rolled by in U.S. 81 G., a genuine respect for democracy grew out of this subject that specialized in tracing and explaining America's struggle for her government. The seniors viewed economic and social problems having to do with the present and the future. The three subiects are among the most important ones offered at Wilson. They symbolize the true teaching of democracy in the United States, and, thus, are found to be essential to the student's program. 84 Q NNK wg Q HOCKEY BASKETBALL PHYSICAL EDUCATION MODERN DANCE SWIMMING CALIFCRNIA CADET CORPS I. We use that to illustrate the splendid English program at Wilson. Classes in English, where composition, literature, and grammar are stressed, are required for Sophomores and .lun- iors. Directed by Kathleen Fenberg, the Loud- speaker has consistently placed high in journalism contests for stu- dent newspapers. There is a maddening rush of page proof, lost cuts, wrong font type, late pictures and the sincere be- lief that it is not within human power to get the book out. Somehow, some way we usually make it. May this spring prove no exception. At any rate, here it is. We tried. We hope you like it. This is our cue to thank people. The students for buying our book and standing where we told them to, the teachers for to- lerating picture schedules and announcements, Dr. Keely, Mr. Wattelet, Mrs. Lugli, and Mr. Morrison for the support, en- couragement, and assistance they have given us. ? l 1 t FAYE BALDWIN Gal Friday CAMPANILE KEN GUIDO SALLY BROWN PAM PETERSEN LOUANN TANNER ww g f ? ,J , , LINDA THIAS NANCY MARTINEZ SUE PERRY PEGGY SELOVER JAY SMITH JACKIE MONROE MELINDA HOWE LAUREL JOLLY 95 PRINT SHOP MR.
