A I P. T. A.AThe Wfilson P. T. A. under the able leadership of its President, Mrs. C. Guerrant, has enjoyed a successful year. Their aim, to promote better understanding between home and school, has been carried out through its various activities, such as, monthly meetings, a series of lectures entitled Understanding Adolescent Youth,'7 contributions to the Dental Care Fund, and the state loan fund of the California Congress of P. T. A. To help further the education of students, two scholarships to Long Beach City College were given. The theme, Foundaation of Many Generations, was followed in month- ly programs. Welfare money was raised through splendid co-operation of mothers, teachers and students with a talent assembly, and a bridge dessert luncheon. I AP. T. A.-Front row: Mnxes. 3 5 I I GUIDANCE--In step with the great world movement to fit everyone in the place where he will be most useful to himself and to the society, the Wilson counseling department has been doubled, giving students opportunity to ask information on courses, life work, occupational information and aptitude tests. Preventive advice starts him on the right track. Students are given help in line with their capacity to achieve. Through a study of the labor market, types of jobs that are fairly stable over a long period of time are discussed, and students are directed against crowded vocations. Students had voted on and passed a new consti- tution for Wilsolq. And the student government that had carried Wilsoii from a school of 900 to one of 1700, hecame a thing of the past. This school had grown from an infant to one of the most progres- sive schools in the country. A Look Nlagazine survey last year placed Wilsoli among rhe top twenty- hve schools in the nation.
