Witli eagerness every senior shares in this program. Wirli 30 pre-induction courses for all Seniors, Wilsoix is fighting at home and at school. Large numhers of girls answered the call for nurses,s aides. Wilsoii gives added training in such classes as nutrition, hy- giene, and first aid, hesides giving girls the opportunity for actual work in hospitals, hy relieving trained nurses. Some emergency courses include meteorology, navigation, radio code, and therapy crafts. War courses reach new peak preparing Wilson youth for war world

NURS'-FYOHI row: Mr. Catlin, Anderson Rowland, McKenney, Yates, Marsh, Bower. AWILSQN AT WAR-With more than 3000 Alumni in the service, Wfilson has renewed its pledge for the war-effort. She has backed every drive in a grand way. Students helped war-torn lands by putting the Red Cross Drive over the topg World Club sponsored Qld Clothes donationsg students brought in tons of usable materialsg Wilsoia helped the nurse shortage by supplying local hospitals with 30 Nurses, Aides. French students raised over 5300 for French Childrenas War Relief. Therapy classes made dozens of project instructions for men in Navy Hospitals. Junior Speakers provided stirring talks to encourage local War Bond buying. The Glec Club sang messages of joy to war worlcers and servicemen in Harbor area. Working four hours a day Wilsoii boys volunteered for war jobs. Camp shows toured Southland bases and hospitals, receiving thunderous applause of sincere appreciation. Girls' League conducted a battery of war projects throughout the year. Entire school paid tribute to the late President Roosevelt. Students eagerly studied San Francisco Conference promising eternal peace. War work hits all time high as Wilson enters fourth year of world war 20

'k HIGH STANDARDS-Despite terrific forces that are rocking institutions and governments brought on by the hysteria of war, Wilsoiu is maintaining good standards in scholarship in the funda- mentals that generations have approved. Tested procedures, techniques and criteria are still the yard stick at Wilson. The Industrial Arts in the pre-war pattern are preparing hoys for jobs. Standards for college entrance requirements are still maintained and followed by a large percentage of ranking students. If there is a conflict hetween pre-induction classes and college entrance classes, college entrance suhjects are followed. There is a place for war classes, these are being carried through intelligently, hut the steadying influence of accurate scholarship, far reaching life plans, broad training still are the domi- nating force in the East End. Everything points to a steadying inliuence for returned hoys. Wilson maintains high standards, sieadying influence despite war work
