Fav lty entertain Rlr. Moore and bride fThis year will be remembered by our youth because of two events of major importance in the life of our country and of the pupils in the Long Beach public schools. First, we mourn the tragic death of our beloved President on the eve of his greatest triumphs and honor his memo-ry for his great love of human- ity and his fight for the rights ofthe common man. Second, the passing of an 8,500,000 dollar bond issue for our public schools means added facilities for our young people and greater educational opportunities for the veterans who wish to continue their education when they are released from the armed forces. We are very proud of the fact that our school has been able to extend the hand of welcome to our Alumni in uniform who have been permitted to return to the campus. They have much to tell us of their exper- iences as fighting men and the honors which they have won. We bow our heads in respect to the memory of those who will not return and pray that ere another year has passed we may be able to present another Campanile dedicated to a glorious victory that grants peace and justice to all men regardless of race, color or creed.
