In this highly coordinated drive, every one of Wilson's 1,595 students bought, sold, and campaigned to put Wilson across. Other than supporting War Drives, the Board of Governors met the problem of centralizing social activities because of curtailed use of cars with the instituting of night dances held in the school study hall. Student Government took another stride toward democracy with the establishment of the House of Representatives where congressmen may air views of each student. Routine duties on awards, gold and jewelled W's, and budgeting were handled with dispatch. f STUDENT COUNCIL-Competent leaders from every activity of the campus life compose this dynamic group who voice the opinions of the Student Body on the important matters of school gov- ernment, clubs assemblies, and activities. This enthusiastic group is charged with the duty of alot- ting budget funds for the coming year, making general preparations for Home Coming, and check- ing on all finances of the school. Campus Clean-Up and Cafeteria Drives were successful. f HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES--The House of Representatives composed of 55 delegates was Wilson's answer to a democratic form of Student Government. Similar to the Student Council in its purpose, this representative group was well qualified to settle many problems which arose. They drew up and enforced an elaborate plan for the control of conduct at assemblies, in the cafeteria, and on the grounds. The Student Body is cooperating and working in an effort to make this plan successful. 28

An unique luncheon, held on the auditorium stage, featured a galaxy of speakers led by Ensign Dor- is Yetter, Navy nurse, recently a prisoner in japan. Nine discussion groups, headed by outstanding city authorities, talked on girls in war work. With bristling guns based all over Southern California, Girls' League set new highs in centering their attentions around war work. Fifty-five home rooms poured in games for service men in distant camps, 35 girls solicited in a house to house campaign for the Community Chest, an elaborate clipping book of Wilson in the War went to Washing- ton, and twenty-Hve Red Cross kits for service men were made and filled. Aside from drives for war work, the League had an unusually strong year working on their routine jobs. The friendship tag sale, new girls' get-acquainted party, and the sponsors' breakfast were successful pieces of work. 30
