Our league record was a repeat of 1943 with two won and three lost, The surprise of the season was the fact that Mr. MacDonald and Mr. McSweeney were sud- denly called to the bench to coach when Mr. Charles had to leave Wloodmere shortly before the opening game. A close second to that surprise was the mention of Erich Dejmek for honorable mention on Newsday's All County Team. Had Woodtllere been able to call upon Ed Fay, ,lack Barnwell, and Frank DeGraff, Johnny Greco, Erle Herman, Willie Henggeler, and Sonny , Lee at times when their injuries were hard felt, our record would probably have been the opposite of what it is. Wiere it in our power to confer honors on outstanding members of the squad, the entire Hrst team would be deserving of recognition. The starting varsity was: Kurzenbauser and Barnwell, ends, Levy and DeCraff, tackles, Seamon and LaForge, guardsg Marx, center, Henggeler, Greco, Herman, and lllattllews, backs. uSonny Lee and Erich Dejmek also starred in their specialized duties. 65 69 Bwsebflll 1 lll 1 1 1 nl .1n11 I1r111111111 111 1111 111 1 ,1111 1111111 1s.1 1111 111 11111111151 HE f IER o11r 111.111 up 1ll11ll 11111111 .1111 11111111 1111 111.111 JOHNNY GR C0 S .1 .1111 1111 .1111 IW lllll 1 1 1 11n1 of 1111 Sfllllll S110rcS 1 w 1 11.r M111 'J 5 U 1k.11f1111111.1nd111s 1 1.11111 1111111 1 11' 1111 l1ll 11111 R11 1x1 ,I U KSUN 60111011 1111 11.111Q at Qecond 1 wx 111 1111 1111r1 top 514415 THUN f111111f'11 1 11111 1 11111 11111111111 11111 111111111111111111 1111 Xxlx FRXXIN 1n11 NIOKEY IPF p1as111 1111r11 11.1 1 11111 111111 r 111111 FI 1111111111 T110 1 two 11111: were 1:1130 1 I ' 11 1 1111r11 lll Tl 111 H1111 .1n11 1 Q11 Pl 1 11311 1 Nl RLSUN 11111 130015111 .1 11 1111111 11113 11111' 11111111 1111 B Nl XHX 11111 1 1 ll 11 D XX 111511 1' 1' N1 11111 XBRONIOXY 1'1'l 11111 .1 fine 11111 19 99 Track Mr Une MPlC0llIi'fl 1 mall hut well lnlancefl roup of potcntlal track stars when the first praetlec of the year wa vallccl After a few days the athletes were ln Shape xftrr their arcluou 0591011 of C'dllilllCIlli5 and the completlon of thelr firet laps around the travk Captain FRIF HFRWIAN an eprmter and of the Qquarl BOB HATHAWAY supported P1 erce rn the drstanee runs The half mxlere and quarter mrlere rneluded BEN CASSELLO ELLIOT SPIRO BILL FOX and ELI TIMONER Larrym XX ootlmcre S colore rhreu lr the eprmt ramee were LARRY DENIAREST BOB BROWN and ERLF HERVIAN JOE SCHETTIINO and TOM LAGRUTTA were top hurdler and RUSTY HIRSCH and IVIAURICF SPRINT added upper: ROGER SEANIONI led the array of rhet putter .
