Boys Varsity Soccer ! iv nk 3 Q 'Y The i981 soccer season was as interesting as a soccer season could be. Every one who came in contact with the team. players or supporters were guaranteed a good time. With Jill Lomove leading the statistician squad, the Woodmere Academy soccer team soared to numerous victories. Defending the goal position were the famous bobsey twins of goal: Dave Wind and Paul Freundlich. Their tremendous, stupendous saves thwarted and intimidated the opposing teams' offensive surges. Leading the offensive attack of Woodmere's highly effective offense were Brad Golden and Frank Gallo. The fullback positions were filled by James Rinzler, Peter Andrews, Saul Fine and Mitch Auerbach. Without them the goalies would have suffered Ca littleb. The team would also like to make a special mention to former starter Adam Hoeflich. His compelling personality and inspiring talk persuaded us all to do our very best in the game. To all those not mentioned, publicity is not everything. Only a few things remain to be told. Who will wear number nine and most important who will pick out the thermos. The team coach Cbrian Manfrel used his knowledge to our advantage and we all profited from his decision, We would all like to thank him fora 14-4 almost championship season. The four losses were all close games, a 2-1 to Horace Mann in our first game, 2-1 to Collegiate with David Cordero benched, and a game to St. Pius whom we later wan. To most of the people who did not think they would make this article, here is your big chance. Adam Holland on lead guitar. . .only kidding. The following played just as big a part of the success of the team as anyone. Seniors Mark Karyo, Howard Baldinget and Craig Saunders: Juniors: Brad Rinzler, and Peter Sklarin, and Sophomores Roy Kreitner and John Kimpton. David Allen Wind 151
