PROPHECY I just couldn't believe it! Here it was 1965 and standing before me in this huge television studio in Hollywood, California, were all my former classmates of dear old Woodleaf High School, I was a guest on the Mirror of Life show with Gene Hall as master of ceremonies, This show had surprised me by flying in all my former classmates for a reunion, Two of them, now sharing an apartment with me, here in California, had persuaded me to come along with them to see this show. They were Barbara Penninger, an artist for MGM Studios, and Julia Safley, a popular singer for RCA Victor, now famous for her rendition of The Star of Today Will Brighten Tomorrow”, Later at the party planned by this program, I had a chance to get reacquainted with each of them and learn of their progress in life. The first I encountered was Evelyn Bartlett, Assistant Surgeon at Rowan Memorial Hospital, Her nurse, Jeanette McIntyre, was with her, Later I heard the former Donnie Gullett and the former Nancy Miller con- sulting her about the health of their children. Harold Allen, twitching his neatly trimmed mustache, greeted me with his secretary, Betty Murph, He informed me of his latest experiences as a criminal lawyer. Next I met Ray Bean and learned that he was now Head Manager of The Eagle”, a swanky restaurant owned by Jack Gullett. M. L. Hamilton was employed as his Assistant Manager. Walter Fleming, now studying at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ilinois, told me that his sister, Eva Nell, was with her husband in Africa, serving as a missionary. Now, I had the pleasure to congratulate Charlie Williams in person for winning the last race at the Minneapolis Speedway, owned by Haskell Shoaf, famous for his latest invention, the Ford Tiara”, Janet McDaniel and Flake Wilson, popular Grand Ole Opry stars, sang their latest hit, Blasted Love”. Geralene Campbell invited me to visit her famous beauty shop, The Jewel , located in the prospering city of Needmore. I learned that Arthur and Ann Ratledge had inherited a huge cattle ranch and fifty oil wells in Abilene, Texas, Colleen Wilson was employed by them as private secretary. Rachel Shoaf showed me her latest painting, a portrait of the present governor of North Carolina, Ronald Hellard, Donny Holshouser, a fast-rising comedy star was there with one of his gag writers, Lorene Corriher, A well-known scientist, Frank Jacobs, told me about his new laboratory, built by the Reavis Construction Company, owned by Jerry Reavis. Interrupting our conversation, Henry Waller told me that he was an archi- tect for Jerry. Annette Miller and Sylvia McDaniel held my interest as they told of the many places they had visited during their careers as airline hostesses. Janet Brown, a professional seamstress, was engrossed in discussing her problems with Geraldine Doss, a dress designer for Powers Modeling Company in New York, With them were Ruth Thomason, a novelist, whose latest book was A Dozen Pink Roses , and Martha Benson, a teacher at Woodleaf High School, Bill Wetmore, a prominent dairy farmer in Woodleaf, and Jimmy Harkey, Chief Highway Patrolman, were asking Bobby Safley about his latest experiences as a jet pilot. Now I had met each of my former classmates. It had been wonderful talking with each of them and hearing of their progress since our graduation, As I said goodbye to each of them and thanked the Mirror Of Life show for this opportunity and their unlimited courtesy, I was marvelling at how extraordinary and exciting this day had been. I would always remember and cherish it. Tomorrow I would continue with my daily routine by resuming my duties as per- sonnel worker for the Walt Disney Studios. Jo Ann Evans, Prophetess
